sakura bloom sling diaries: beauty

Wednesday, March 6

This is my sixth and last post as part of the Sakura Bloom Sling Diaries and I have so loved getting to document a little bit of our baby wearing experience for the last six months. It's going to be a long while before either of us outgrows this stage. To see my other posts, click here // I am wearing the Pure Baby Sling in Organic Maple

A little while ago, we took a drive out to the Virginia Arboretum and the surrounding area for the afternoon. While this time of year can be THE GLOOMIEST sometimes, there is always something to be said for the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, even in the thick of late Winter. The rolling hills, the grey sky and wide open spaces, the skeletal branches that are waiting patiently for their blossoms and the beautiful farmhouses perched on grassy hilltops or in a thicket of trees. And a little boy in the back seat taking it all in with solemn observation as it rolls past his window. Solemn, until we see some cows of course.
His love of these moo-ing animals has merited more than my fair share of routine oh look, there's some cows. Even when Everett is not there to enjoy the discovery, but other passengers certainly are.

I think one of the most beautiful things about getting to be this boy's mama is rediscovering the world with him as his curiosity and capabilities expand. His furrowed eyebrows as he carefully picks out a grape, inspects it in his tiny palm and pops it in his mouth, sighing in satisfaction through his nose while he picks out another to feed his mama. His sometimes cautious and sometimes uninhibited love of animals. His experimentation with the curious art of putting your own shoes on. The sucking in of his breath and an excited DAT? as he points out the window to his first look at heaps of freshly fallen snow. And his preference to be as close to me as possible for all of it. I am the luckiest!
Can't wait to show him Spring in this valley.
