life and then some

Tuesday, March 12

Our latest doctor's visit was the most adventurous yet with this one. Child was not interested in getting measured properly. But who is, really?

After what feels like a two month butt-kicking, life has been giving me lots of warm fuzzies lately.   The weather was beautiful this weekend so Tyson and I put Everett in the stroller and walked through the streets of our town together. I don't know that I hardly said two words as Tyson talked and talked. Which is one of those things that, as a woman, and as ... you know, ME ... hardly ever happens. Just reminded me of how great it is that we have each other. As sounding boards and co-parents and partners. One Sunday, Everett slept straight through the afternoon {it was a Rip Van Winkle moment to be remembered and cherished forever and ever} while Tyson tried out a new recipe of Portobello mushrooms stuffed with shredded brussel sprouts, onions and steak and THIS ROOF. WAS. RAISED. Neither of us are cooks so there was much patting of backs and high-fiving, repeating of the recipe three times in one week, etc. Which brings me to more under the subheading of food. Egg quests and things! We watched a few mildly disturbing documentaries and long story short, we're trying to make much more of an effort to buy local whenever possible. So far this has lead to discovering the surplus of family farms out here. And those wonderful farmers! I suppose I have a bit of a soft spot for the farmers of the world since some of my fondest childhood memories include exploring the tractors on my grandpa's mountain dry farm during those warm and green summers. Similar to teachers, I feel that they're the under appreciated, underpaid backbone to this country. And I'll soapbox about it if you reallllly want me to. ;) Everett and I dropped by one of the farmer's markets, hoping to get a few things but ended up talking to the owner who was still preparing to open the next week. And that owner, a sweet older guy, has a bluegrass jam sesh {his words, not mine} with his wife and a band every third week and we got our very own personal invite. Just stuff like that, you know? The warm fuzzies of life.
