pepper jelly at the saturday market

Monday, February 25

While Everett stayed with our good friends, Tyson and I cashed in on our Valentine's date rain check and got away for a night at the George Washington Hotel here in Winchester this weekend. I don't know what felt so romantic about this mini getaway, but it did. There's something to be said for greeting your spouse after work and knowing that it's just you two until tomorrow. And when that tomorrow comes, it's actually gonna be later than 6am. THIS SONG? That's me sleeping in. The next morning, we quickly got ready to go pick Everett up. As soon as we walked through the door, he heard our voices and came from around the corner where he was playing to greet us with chubby hands around the neck. Honestly, it surprises me every time what a few hours will do when it comes to missing him.
We headed to breakfast together to grab some french toast and then visited the Saturday market, on the hunt for some pepper jelly. Have you ever had it? Better than it sounds. We had some drizzled over cream cheese with crackers/tortilla chips at my in-laws during Christmas, loved it and have not been able to track any down since. Though actually, on the hunt for this elusive pepper jelly, I discovered another one of my favorite jam places in town and the man named Ham-Bone {Tattooed. Bearded. Apron-ed. Awesome. I'm just gonna say it again, Ham-Bone} who runs it. So the search has not entirely been for naught. Then we came across this market on the drive we took last Sunday and it proved to be a winner! At least a month's supply of red pepper jelly and jalapeno raspberry jam in the fridge right now.
