The first day of fall came at the beginning of this week and I've just broken out Everett's giant reindeer sweater, so we've almost fully transitioned with the reddening leaves around us. But it just wouldn't feel right moving on into the pumpkin patch portion of this year, without a proper goodbye to these good ol' days of summer. They treated us well. They warmed our hearts even more than our backs. They brought us family and friends, afternoons at the lake and the ocean, the freshest of food on our table, evening walks in the dark to escape the heat of day, lots of sweaty shoulders and cold drinks, lots of swimming, lots of discovery and three different trips down the tallest roller coasters we could find. We will miss this.
