Father's Day Father's Day
This day was just what the doctor ordered for all of us. After church, we headed home and I watched our little boy nod off in the back seat. We always tend to leave church about two hours after his regular nap time, so every week he is one super trooper sunday warrior. At home, Tyson carefully unbuckled him and tucked Everett's nodding sleepy head into his shoulder and headed up the stairs, giving me that "this never happens and this is THE BEST" look the whole way. He laid him down in his crib and snuck out quietly, grabbing me away from my kitchen preparations so that we both could join our smallest in one giant family nap. And who am I to say no to someone who is pulling me away from kitchen preparations. That is like a favorite reoccurring daydream of mine. Luck was in our favor on this window-unit humming, shades drawn, Sunday afternoon nap of ours and that gem of an Everett slept until 4pm. FOUR! He wanted to high-five and fist-bump the second he woke up, so we were all on the same page about the whole thing. We made German pancakes and extra-crispy bacon, Tyson's father's day dinner of choice {man after my own heart}, and then headed out to the park.
In the latest shock of my life, this little man has been grabbing his blankie and Wink, coming over to me and asking for nigh-nigh when he's ready for bed at night. But yesterday, we bought ourselves a little extra time with the late nap and he was the happiest to play and play and play until sunset. He had his daddy. And those two are just peas in a pod.
Tyson and I laid down together for a second while Everett was bird-chasing around the blanket.
Only to be dog-piled moments later by that same little man who is the center of our world and likes to keep it that way.
To my sweet husband, it is my greatest joy to watch the adoration in our son's eyes when he looks at you and to see that same adoration reflected in yours. The love you have for this little family of ours is one of the most powerful things I've ever had the privilege of experiencing and I'm so grateful for it every day. I love getting to spend my life with you.
Happy Father's Day to the hardest working, sweetest man I know! And to all of the fathers out there, especially my own dad and father-in-law! I love you guys. I am the luckiest to have such amazing men in my life.

When I initially commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and today whenever a
comment is added I get three emails with the
exact same comment. Can there be any way you can remove me from that service?
Bless you!
