A little while ago, we took a drive out to the Virginia Arboretum and the surrounding area for the afternoon. While this time of year can be THE GLOOMIEST sometimes, there is always something to be said for the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, even in the thick of late Winter. The rolling hills, the grey sky and wide open spaces, the skeletal branches that are waiting patiently for their blossoms and the beautiful farmhouses perched on grassy hilltops or in a thicket of trees. And a little boy in the back seat taking it all in with solemn observation as it rolls past his window. Solemn, until we see some cows of course.
