I can't remember the last time we just got in the car and took a drive. It used to be our thing. Mostly our Sunday thing. We'd jump in our old 4-runner named Quaid, roll back the sunroof and just go. Sometimes we'd end up in a neighborhood where I would venture to prove my point that shingles on the side of a house look dang stinking good and I think about this much yard space would be perfect for a garden someday. Or we would just take some old road that went out into the country forever and ever. We'd find a spot to pull over, open the tailgate, and sit and eat our sandwiches. Those were the days of spontaneity and early pregnancy. In fact thinking back to a few of those drives is like morning sickness all over again. But really NICE memories of morning sickness?
Anyway, we'd made plans to do just that this Sunday. Us and a country road and a car with no name. Maybe we'd venture over to West Virginia, maybe Everett would fall asleep in the back, maybe we'd discover the perfect spot to go camping this summer, maybe we'd come across an extra romantic overlook somewhere, I mean you just never know.
Or maybe Sunday would be full to the brim with meetings.
An hour before the sun went down, we finally found ourselves back together again, with a little hustle and just enough time. Grab the diaper bag! Grab the food! Does he have a hat? The keys are on the mantle! We picked a spot on an unfolded map and turned onto a road that headed straight out of town. Everett clutched Wink and turned his cheeks toward to window to watch the country go by and Tyson and I shared a bite to eat in the front while we caught up on life. We drove and talked down a tree-lined road until it was dark and I tell you what, it felt like some sort of victory.

Speaking of victory, Natalie and I clothing swapped a few things while I was in NY that weekend and I walked away with these shoes. Baaaaaad mistake giving these up sista friend, baaaad mistake. ;)
