Today one lucky reader will win a Shine necklace, shirt, and wrist band from The Shine Project!  The Shine Project was created to inspire people to go out of their comfort zone, do hard things, and bring light to others around them. This year, The Shine Project is going around the country to get communities involved in being the change. Their next stop is Salt Lake City! {Click HERE for details.} They believe that when we come together to accomplish good, miracles happen and in return, our own lives change.
The Shine Project also has a non-profit organization called The Shine Scholarship Project. They do community service projects with at-risk youth in the Phoenix area to teach them the leadership skills they need to succeed in life. The Shine Project raises money to send the youth to college so they can contribute back to society. Their hearts have been changed by those sweet kids, and they sell SHINE products to benefit them. 100% of proceeds from SHINE bands go to the scholarship fund, as well as portions of shine necklaces and shirts. You can check out the shop HERE! And you can read more about the kids HERE

The Shine Project recently launched a brand new project called Pass it Forward. Here's how it works:

So head on over to get more involved and let the world see you shine.

The past three days have been a serious whirlwind of family time and proud of my sister moments

It's 11

My baby is laying on the pillow next to me on our hotel bed, wide awake and entertaining himself with giggles because for some reason being awake at 11 is really funny tonight

I am tired

So here's an outfit

and a goooooooood night from me to you

and that's all my iphone has to say about that

Just a few photos from Instagram. I'm @sydneyliann, if you'd like to follow along!
Well gosh darn, it's Monday already.
Over the weekend we went downtown for a little fun in the sun, baby swimsuit shopping and the like, Tys and I saw Hunger Games for our last night out together {of course it wasn't really our last night, but I'm about to take off for a week and we're feeling dramatic about it}, and other stuff I won't bore you with that makes me want to poke my eyes out.

So anyway, Everett and I are hopping a plane in the morning for North Carolina to go see my family {hip! hip!} and my little sister graduate from boot camp. The girl is like 100 pounds sopping wet, plays for her college Rugby team and was top female scorer at Army boot camp. I would SERIOUSLY like to know where I was when all these kick-A genes were being handed out.

Posting might be a little sparse over the next few days, but just think of the marvelous time I'll be having at the airport with a car seat, a duffel bag, a diaper bag, my little babe, and a security staff that doesn't hold little babes while I get scanned and double scanned... and have yourself a nice chuckle.

Happy Monday and see you soon!

I don't know if things could get much busier or more sleep deprived over here {hello seriously wonky new baby sleep schedule} but a few minutes stolen at the park together before dinner certainly don't hurt one bit.
Happy weekend to you and you and you!

Holding hands with Tyson in the car. After a baby, the busy pull of life and the familiarity that comes with being together with someone for a while, somehow when we get around to holding hands now it seems much sweeter than the excitement of holding hands when we were on our very first dates

Quiet conversations with my wide-awake baby in a very dark house

That time last week when a receptionist asked me and my 15 year old voice if I was covered by my parent's insurance

A weekend crepe fix when we have nothing else in our fridge because Saturday is for much more important things not involving grocery shopping

Drinking a delicious bottle of cold chocolate milk through a straw. I really don't think I'll mind joining in during Everett's PB&J and milk stage once it hits

A genuine, real, bubbly, delicious baby laugh that can't contain itself when I kiss his tummy

When two extremely gigantic bees flew very close to me and Everett and I realized for the first time that my mother's instinct really exists and makes me a lot braver than I actually am

When Tyson pulls us both close and says c'mere little family

Rolo cookies: the anti-recipe
And it's called the anti-recipe because first of all, if you've ever seen me in the kitchen then you know that I'm the last person who's qualified to be dishing out advice on adding a teaspoon of vanilla like so. Did you hear that? That was Tyson in the background yelling, Amen! And second, because these things are like 4 ingredients. Which doesn't qualify them for fancy titles like "recipe".
So let's get on with it shall we?

Oven: 350
1 stick of butter, melted
1 egg
1 box of devil's food cake
1 bag of Rolos

Mix the butter, egg and devils food cake together till you get a dry dough. Then shape the dough around the Rolo until you have a little ball. Stick em on an un-greased cookie sheet and put them in the oven for 7-9 minutes depending on your gooey preferences.

Then eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and your mid-morning snack. Also, dream about them, take them on walks and give them pet names.

rainbows and sunshine. not.

Cranky, cantankerous, snappy, Oscar the Grouch-ish, disagreeable, petulant, definitely awoken from the wrong side of the bed, creature from the black lagoon, borderline jerkface, closely resembling an actual mama bear.
Just a sampling of the words you could have used to describe me yesterday evening. The day was long yet somehow there weren't enough hours, the babe got shots and wouldn't sleep, my sneezing, runny-nosed tank was on empty, and Tyson was home but had to stay up working late which I hate maybe more than anything.
So I'm thinking that this morning when Everett woke up at 6 instead of 7 and Tyson took him downstairs, put him back to sleep, got ready and left for work without waking me up, that he was doing it for his own protection. But man, am I grateful. I got to sleep in an extra 2 hours this morning. 2 hours!! That's a straight up party. Straight up Michael Buble and whatever that "feeling good" song is that he sings. So rock on Tuesday. And thanks Tys.

Also if you missed last week's post about what to wear when you have nothing to wear, you can read that HERE

You go outside with friends
You smell the cherry blossoms
You watch a rugby game
You eat pizza
You kiss babies
The babies lick you back
And there is sunshine and much rejoicing
