I don't even know what to say right now. We're going on vacation? The last time we took one of these together, it was 2009 and involved an overnight stay in a little Missouri town because we were students and stupid poor. So I guess it was a vacation in quotation marks if you know what I mean.
We never thought we'd be doing something like this now, having Everett and all, but a few months ago a "never gonna happen again" opportunity presented itself to take a giant couples vacation {a whole week! I think I'm nuts!} with some friends of ours, so we jumped on it. And I don't think the full force of the excitement actually hit me until about three seconds ago.
Ev will be staying with my mom down in southern Utah for the trip and she's thrilled about it, so I couldn't be happier that they'll be getting some bonding time together. {And we're skyping those squishy cheeks every night, right guys?}
Anyway! I'm gonna stop this post right now, while I'm ahead of the mama mush. Have a good week! And sorry, but you're totally getting beach spammed next week.

I am so sincerely excited for you!! Have a lot of shaved ice and that yummy cheesecake from the Polynesian cultural center...I think that highlight of my trip.........And every time you start feeling the "mommy guilt" go to the beach it works like a charm!
Congrats - you will have the best time! My hubby & I went on a 5-day vacation to Mexico when my daughter was little...and even though it was so hard to leave her, it was the BEST time! :)

I just got back from a two week work trip to Kauai - Hawaii is such an amazing place to visit - you will not be left disappointed!!

cheee-huuu!!! its about time one of my fav bloggers make a trip to our hood. well, our "second home." (my hubby's fam is all there) i don't know which island you're going too but if you are going to Oahu, you def ought to check out the PCC - Polynesian Cultural Center (try to get the kama'aina rate if you know someone who lives there which is sooooo much cheaper) AND/OR go to the Aloha Swap meet for all your souvenir knick knacks (which you can ALWAYS bargain down)! Well, we do. It's so much fun!!! Good for you two!!! Wear plenty sunblock!! email me if you want some suggestions for Oahu/ Kauai for a REAL (and safe) experience outside tourist locations (those a must see too)!! haha Aloha nui loa, Tongs :))

Good for you guys! It's hard to be away from your baby but it's SO worth it. All parents need a little break sometime in the first year I think. Just enjoy your trip!!!!

I am secretly hoping that your mom lives in the St. George area so that maybe when I'm running errands with my baby girl (who was born the day before Everett) we can randomly run into cute Everett and he can teach my baby that trick he does with his bum up in the air and other crawling techniques and maybe they can bond over discussing the most exciting things they've ever found on the floor and stuffed in their mouths. Have such a fun vacation!

Hawaii - Maui in particular, is THE BEST. We honeymooned there and loved every second. Make sure you visit Kaanapali Beach, if you visit Maui. Most amazing sand ever. And make sure to stop at a fruit stand on the side of the road and get a banana pineapple shake, you won't regret it, trust me. Oh, and while your at it... hike in the jungle to the twin waterfalls and swim under them. And get a picture kissing your man under them. All the cool people are doing it ;)

Hawaii is SO AMAZING!! Not sure which island you're going to - but I will offer this tiny bit of advice - if you are on the Big Island, try to go to the green sand beach (this will require some research and planning, but it is SO worth it). If you go to Kauai, you MUST MUST MUST get a helicopter tour (you will remember it for the rest of your life!)(P.S. Safari is the best company). Also in Kauai, try to get a boat to take you out to see the Na'Pali coast (the most magnificent place on earth!!!). Wherever you go, just get a helicopter tour, you won't regret it. Can't wait to see pictures!!!!
