awkward and awesome thursday!

Thursday, June 7

Maxi Skirt: TopShop, Top: F21, Jacket: YesStyle, Sunglasses: Target
Awkward
- When asked what my name was, I replied with "Sydney Adams ...*pause*... Poulton. Sydney Poulton" First of all, WUT? Second of all, for the remainder of my conversation with that person, my name remained in vocal quotation marks with a side of insinuated winks. "OK Sydney 'Poulton' ... whatever you say" For the record, the sarcastic voice inflections were not appreciated.
- I pride myself in being a pretty decent private parallel parker. And I do refer to it as private parallel parking because when I actually do a truly sexy job of car maneuvering, NOBODY is ever there to witness it. {Which is fine. Makes it easier to pop out of the car and take my bows} But when I do a park job worthy of the largest cone of shame you can find, everybody and their father's barber is there to witness my endless suffering. So anyway. That happened.
- Conversing with a friend as we walked through the park, suddenly stepping in a well-disguised pothole and instantly dropping to the ground mid-sentence. Honestly it's an injustice to my posterity that there's no video.
- A well placed squeaky toy in my diaper bag that bounces off my leg every time I walk. Luckily for my husband, my location in a public place is now never an issue.

Awesome
- My maniac husband just got accepted into grad school {luckily, it's here so we won't have to move} and I'm so proud of him and those brains of his! Working full time, grad school in the evenings ... these next few years are gonna be WAY FUN you guys.
-Everett has now perfected the art of fake coughing. He practices faithfully every morning at 8am if any of you are wanting lessons.
- Pool time with my little fishy
- Creamy brie and raspberry spread shared in the quiet evening after Everett's surrendered to sleep.
- A sweet, appreciative kiss at the stove while I'm cooking dinner. This does not happen very often. I mean the 'me at the stove' part.

Yes! Sophie the Giraffe is always in the exact AWKWARD spot in my diaper bag... especially when I am sans baby... cue weird side eye on why it squeaks when you walk, move, breathe and there is no baby in site...

it is so funny to introduce yourself by your maiden name. especially when you have a few years under the belt and a baby on the way. But then there are those people who know you by nothing else so you find yourself saying both as if you were one of those woman liberators that hyphenates. ugh.

OMG haha, well you WERE Sydney Adams, it's OK to forget! And congrats to Tyson!

Haha, I feel the SAME way with parallel parking! Or, just parking in general. Last week, I was parallel parking on a busy road. I got out to check and then re-parked...four times. Four! I swear my parking has gotten worse these past few years.

Congrats on husband getting into grad school!

I avoid large areas of grass for that very reason, but I like to take it up a notch by spraining an ankle, keeping it worth the watch for onlookers, ya know!

Congrats on grad school- I'm pretty sure they have to accept the whole family because grad school pretty much takes a village. And I'm sure you guys are gonna do awesome :)

I can't get enough of that skirt. My husband will be doing the same thing, working full time and grad school at night. Woo hoo! Not.... at least its for a good cause! :)

Oh, that's so funny! I often misspell my own last name which is totally embarrassing but whatever.

I avoid large plains of grass because in Australia we have so many poisonous snakes and they scare the crap out of me! I love this outfit - this knotted tee just adds such a chic twist to it x

Haha, I love that you got your name wrong! I often get stuck when people ask me my name and date of birth because it's not a question I'm asked too often, there's always an awkward pause where they think I'm trying to make something up.. I'm not, I'm just incredibly slow when it comes to knowing my own vital stats

Supal said...

"I mean the me at the stove part" hahaha. Cherish every moment you have right now with husb. It's REALLY hard with work + grad school. *hand raised* but your life will be smooth sailing once it's all over. More degrees = better!

This was hilarious, I can totally sympathize with the squeaky toy bouncing off leg or in my case, random nursery rhymes and lullabies whenever I pick up my bag. Your little man is just the cutest, I especially love that last photo. Both my daughters would do the fake coughing thing whenever they were teething.
