This week is when ...

Friday, April 13

Shoes: Old Navy, Pants: F21, Top: F21, Sweater: c/o Lauren's Picks, Sunglasses: Target
When I only see my husband between the hours of 11:30pm and 6:00am and GMAT is now my own personal 4 letter word.

When I can barely seem to keep my head above an ocean of projects because suddenly I have a problem with saying no.

When Everett discovers and uses his sweet little vocal cords and watching the 100th video of it keeps me laughing after he's gone to sleep

When Skyping is the best medicine

When the number of times I've gotten around to shaving my legs and washing my hair {let alone at the same time} is a really sad, pathetic little number

When "finding the balance" seems like the most obscure concept I've ever tried to grasp

When cheese for breakfast makes perfect sense

When my brain is shot to you know where by the end of the day and I mess everything up

When my little boy relaxes his head against my shoulder and it feels just like heaven

I hear you Sydney, I think a lot of us have similar balance challenges. Between the full time job, the full time blogging, my freelance assignments, and all my other obligations, it's really hard to just quiet down and relax.

My husband is being pretty patient but since I'm spending so much more time on my blog...which is a hobby...not a source of income...I know he'd like a little balance too.

Pretty sure the washing your hair and shaving your legs at the same time thing becomes a thing of the past one you have a baby...

...at least that's what I've noticed...

I know I took those things for granted before!!

You rock! Hang in there Sydney! Great outfit and I just love that pop of color on you lips!

That last point you make about your sweet boy's head against your shoulder....is perhaps one of the best feelings in the whole wide world.

As for the other points, I hope it's comforting to know you're not alone. I was thinking some of the same things this week about balance, messing things up and not being able to say no.

now.. I'd do mac & cheese for breakfast.. yes. ;)

I am in the same boat, girl!! Totally one of those weeks for me too.

I hope everything gets a little more balanced in a couple of weeks, but I expect balance can be achieved in very little occasions!
At least, you can enjoy having your little one around as much as you want to, and that is the biggest joy of them all!

By the way, I love the lipstick you're wearing in this pictures, would you mind telling me which is it? :)

I've had the same kind of week, and I don't even have a baby so I can't imagine how stressed ya must be. Saw this yesterday and it put a smile on my face while i was running from errand to errand - "God's plans for your life far exceed the circumstances of your day." I need to put it on post its all over.

As always, love you, love your blog, and love all the pics of your sweet baby : )

about balance- one of the wisest women i know gave a talk to a small group of colleagues and said something i'll never forget: it's not about balance, it's about integration. balance presumes that you'll be sacrificing one thing versus another (work/life, etc.) integration suggests that everything must work together. if something doesn't fit/can't be integrated, out it goes! i found it to be so, so helpful.

Adin B said...

You always look great, one hot momma! Sorry about having such a busy tough week for you. Good thing your little man is there to keep you smiling and going. I am a mom of two now (3 yr. old boy and 5 months baby girl) and life can get so crazy and busy eventhough I am a stay-at-home-mom, but somehow I manage. I am sure you can do it as you are a rockstar mom! Yeah! Take care!

Aw, you guys will definitely get through it. I got my grad degree last year and now my husband is getting his; it feels like we haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with each other in YEARS. But you just have to keep your eye on the future rather than get muddled in the imperfect present.

And yet you still look great!

You're doing a great job, Mama!

I had one of those days yesterday...I felt like I was so busy my head was going to fly off (which would have been seriously unfortunate).
Hopefully you get to relax a bit this weekend! I'm sure you're doing a much better job balancing everything than you think you are :)

P.S. That sweater looks like the perfect accompaniment to the rain we're having here this morning...share?!

O I love the days I get to wash my hair and shave. I feel like I've accomplished quite a lot. But totally know how you feel, here's to "finding the balance" At least you look fabulous!

Sierra said...

Just focus on your sweet baby boy, your loving husband and your cute outfits and you will make it through :) Also, cheese for breakfast is perfectly acceptable no matter the circumstances and washing your hair/shaving your legs is completely overrated.

Also, seeing those sandals on you makes me even more excited to get mine in the mail! You look great :)

Man, I'm right there with ya, Sydney. I'm in vet school, and it's finals week...7 finals, 7 days. I was already so sick of finals week from undergrad, and here I am again, in yet another finals week in professional school! Ah well. Ohhh, I am going thru much of what you listed Syd!!!! My hubby is away for maybe a year overseas, and with the four kiddos all by myself is very hard for me to have some alone time to wash my hair, take a warm bubble bath, or even just shave just like you, without someone screaming for me or banging on my door!!!!! I had to realize the days of having time for me is gone for awhile! But, we will make it thru right? Sure we will! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and much rest in between! Btw, adorable comfy outfit!

Amen and amen. Woke up a week ago with a crazy, out of nowhere cold on the week I needed to get everything ready for our branch Easter Social. Finally got out of bed on Thursday..we'll see how the party goes!

And I totally hear ya on the GMAT. My husband is working full time (with a schedule that sounds pretty similar to Tys') but is also in the branch presidency and the branch mission leader. Our time together has been seriously scant lately. Hang in there, and I can't wait to see how the projects turn out! My projects, as my busy as they make me, help keep me sane.
