Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Thursday, March 15

Shoes: c/o Frock Candy, Shorts: H&M {previously pants}, Top: c/o Windsor, Blazer: Nordstrom, Watch: c/o Windsor, Bag: TJMaxx { Christopher Kon}
Awkward:
- Everything that's involved in going to the dentist's office. Which is what I'll be doing today. You know that little mouth opener thingy that makes you look like your lips are falling from the sky at a million miles per hour? Pretty excited about it.
- Heading out to run some errands with Everett, picking up my mail keys, locking the door behind me and about a second later realizing that that particular set of keys does not hold the ability to unlock my car OR my house. And my mommy brain grows a fist and punches itself. This was followed by a few embarrassing and heated rounds of door knob wiggling, really bad lock picking, unfruitful window break-in attempts and a nice string of pleasantries. In the end it was an old Sam's Club card that saved the day. My testimony of bulk buying was reaffirmed that day.
- The arch of my foot choosing the hook of a metal clothes hanger as the last thing it wanted to see before it died. And 4 days later the bottom of my foot looks like it has a special case of the reverse Oreo.
- The fact that my wisdom teeth are still in my mouth somewhere. And I'm currently in the running to set the record for world's latest bloomer.
- Unintentionally aligning with another car going the exact same speed on a long two lane road. I'm probably the only person in the world who considers this to be awkward. But it's like a hole is boring into the side of my head: DO NOT LOOK OVER. YOU WILL MAKE EYE CONTACT.  AND THEN YOU'LL LOOK QUICKLY AWAY. AND YOU'LL HAVE TO KEEP DRIVING ALONG, PURPOSEFULLY NOT LOOKING AT EACH OTHER. AND IT WILL BE WEIRD.
-Dropping your phone and having it slide behind a public toilet in a very small stall. And suddenly you're the commentator for the new hit series, "Man Vs. Toilet"

Awesome:
-It's March, I'm in shorts and the forecast for today is 82. Fairies are gonna pop out and give me three wishes and a unicorn any minute now.
-Taking Everett outside for the first time sans blanket and hat to watch him take in the big, warm, outdoor world and tickle his toes in the grass. Note: the grass makes us open our mouth really really big
- Family walks around our neighborhood together before dinner
- Sitting on the couch in the early morning light, reading a book while I feed my baby. I live for those quiet moments before we start our day.
- Everett finding his big boy voice and telling me a very vocally fluctuated story for 60 seconds straight. 60 seconds {!!!!} of non-stop, Everett story telling. I'm in love! I'm in love! And I don't care who knows it!
-  Peanut butter on toast sprinkled with sliced almonds. Dude.

Cute outfit, I've always wanted to wear boyfriend shorts but can't since it's so unflattering on large calves. You look amazing as always!

haha I do that in the car all the time. And if I come to a stop light, sometimes I get paranoid and feel like the person next to me is purposefully lining up with my car and looking at me. Wow.. that is all really self-centered. and awkward.
:)

I always loved reading your awkward & awesomes. It's like, wow, does all of that stuff really happen to her? My life is much less exciting. Although I totally agree that driving side by side with people is awkward. So is stopping at a light, perfectly aligned with them and forcing yourself to keep your eyes forward to avoid that inevitable awkward situation. And it's so cute that Everett loves the grass! And his story telling. So cute.
Happy Friday Eve! :)

literally agree on the whole car thang. it's even more awkward when you are the passenger in the car. . . it's like you are so close and in their space. :)

happy sunshine day to you!

Yes to the car thing!! Sometimes I wonder if the other person thinks it is awkward too.. I mean, they're staring straight ahead just as intensely as I am..

How you do your hair so cute all the time is besides me.
How you look so cute with a newborn is besides me.
How you don't look tired like I did the first YEAR of a new baby is besides me.

You're adorable.

Amazing list as usual, Sydney. I really love reading your Awkward and Awesome Thursday posts! Even tried to write one, but it will never be as good as yours. Plus, I didn't realize how long I haven't gone to your blog because it's only now that I saw that you're back to being a brunette! :) Looks great though! :) And on a different note, I could never pull off those long shorts (what? Haha). They cut me off the wrong way and make me look short! :( Doesn't work for big thighs. Sigh

Sorry for that lengthy comment! :P

Ugh, driving right alongside another car is SO awkward. I find myself acting like I have those blinkers on my face that racehorses wear, so they don't look around. EYES ON THE ROAD, STRAIGHT AHEAD. Then I speed up or slow down to fix the situation.

Ha! I have got you bet for lastest dentally blooming award though. Fast approaching 30 and still have my wisdom teeth. Talk about awkward I was still losing baby teeth in high school.
Your brunette head is adorable!

I do not have wisdom teeth! Well, I do..I think. I'm the only person I know that hasn't had them taken out. I'm hoping I don't have too. I feel like I wouldn't do well with that. Love your A&A posts...they make me feel normal:)

Aw! I love your "Awkward and Awesome Thursday" posts! I just had my wisdom teeth taken out last week, after dentist after dentist said if they don't come in by the time I'm 18, they never will. Surprise, at 24, I was knocked out and robbed of the teeth that decided to make their big show. Some people never lose their's. My mom still has her's deep rooted in her mouth and my little brother seems to not even have any to take out. I hope that you never have to be in that drug-induced state! :)

My wisdom teeth haven't shone up either--so you are not alone.

And I hate driving beside people--at traffic lights I can't look incase I catch their eye, and then I worry they will think I want a race or something and it will all end terribly--I watched Grease far too much as a child.

I've still got my wisdom teeth in there somewhere. Actually, two of them grew in as real teeth. Plus I'm older than you. So you're not alone :)

Bianca said...

These shoes you are wearing are quickly becoming my favorites.

Also, I find the driving right next to someone at equal speeds awkward too... I mean why do they have to be RIGHT THERE. They need to speed up or slow down, because I'm on cruise and I'm not changing... perhaps I am the awkward one. Haha!

It's crazy, but I think your eyes got bluer. Stop that.

I totally meant that in a good way. As in stop being so adorable. Dang. This is making my own awkward list.

So jealous of the warm weather and chance to wear oepn-toed wedges. Love the color of the jeans and you cut them to a fun length--clam diggers? Pedal pushers? Whatever the technical term is for "longer than shorts, shorter than capris." So fun in that color!

I'm nearly 30 and still haven't grown my wisdom teeth! It's very strange... you sound like such a great mom and make me wish I had my own little Everett... one day :)

I love the "driving next to a car going the same speed on a two lane road". You're NOT alone!
I hate when this happens, especially if I happen to be singing along to the radio. I REALLY hate when this happens, then you have to pull up beside one another at an intersection and wait for a red light, too. Double awkward.
Hope you and your boys have a lovely Thursday :)

Oh snap. It's shorts season. Looking sassy, mama!

I really loathe all of my 3 pairs of shorts by the end of summer bc I seem to wear them every day. And let's face it, knee length shorts get ugly and boring after awhile. Or is that just me? Anyway, I like the idea of using pants to turn into shorts! You look great!

Totes know what you're talking about with the side-by-side driving thing. Eye contact = AWKWARD.
