Boots: Hunter, Sock: Target, Pants: Target, Jacket: c/o Windsor, Hat: Walmart, Bag: c/o One Language
Awkward:
- Walking down the hall at the movies and suddenly having one lonely sock fall out of my pant legs. "Hey", says the Good Sock Samaritan, "You dropped ... eh ... your sock". The "oh thanks" timidly spoken as you accept the blasted thing is a special humbling moment that only that one lonely sock dropped from your pant leg onto a public hallway can give you. {It's actually amazing that this is the first time that's happened, as I will admit that most of my pant legs are filled with yesterday's socks.}
- Standing outside of a gym studio, waiting for the previous class to get out and hearing myself ask another woman, "You here for guts and butts?" I don't care what the class is called. That business is never coming out of my mouth again.
- And thanks to the aforementioned class, today my gait looks like something closely resembling those lovely walking dead folk exiting their cemetery in Thriller. But that's nothing compared to the downright party making my way down the stairs has become.
- Serenading myself with the last part of the song that I was listening to in the car as I stop to unlock my door, only to look over and see my neighbor sitting on his front porch. It is in that moment when one truly realizes where their level of confidence is at. Mine is at a zero with an audible DANGIT.
- Working away on the computer with a bag of Reisens in front of me, only to look down and suddenly see a gigantic pile of empty wrappers just staring at me from the desktop. It was an awkward moment for both me and the pile.
Awesome:
- Girls night out with a few friends. SO. GOOD.
- Sitting on the gym mat directly behind the chick with the most bangin' tushy in the class. She is my motivation for one ... more ... lift ... even though I'm pretty sure my leg has already detached itself from my body, got up and walked straight out of class.
- The sudden knack Tyson has for cooking. Like full on, searching the Food Network for recipes, banging pots and pans in the kitchen, bringing me spoons for a taste-tests, cooking! I'm tellin' you, it's like the twilight zone over here
- Watching Everett take in new things in his little world. I swear, I've never experienced anything so rewarding.
- Another date night with my guy tomorrow night. We are getting spoiled over here.

I really enjoyed reading this post.
Good for you, getting to the gym. Today on my blog I featured a review of YogaGlo - online yoga studio for just $18/month. Check it out S, you dont even have to leave your house!

Ah...the sock thing!
Know it all to well...
once even with yesteday's underthinghs(totally not sharing to much information..)
Thank god it fell out before I walked out the door!
hahaha the gym makes for some excellent awkward moments. so glad I can be awkward right there with ya!
Riesens are by far the most greatest chocolate awkward chewing gooeyness in the teeth. I have them on my coffee table, in my purse always, at my desk, with coffee, without coffee. It's possible I have been called out by my boyfriend for my daily Riesen dosage. Chocolate is a beautiful thing, and so is how you feel after you've been to the gym! Happy Thursday.
What I love the most about your Awkward and Awesome Thursdays posts are that everything you write is what happens to all of us and makes us feel better there is at least one other in the world like us. Plus, you just have the guts to write it down.
Your sock story is fantastic. I have that problem not only with socks, but underwear too. Lucky it was 'only' a sock that time ;).
You look beautiful in this color. It matches perfectly with your skin tone. Also, YOU my dear, inspire me to go to the gym!!!

So funny. After having a baby, going to the gym is something I look forward to waaay more. I used to be interested in working out at home (to save time), but now I love the social aspect of going to a class and being with other adults. Even if the conversation includes 'butts and guts'...lol.
Isn't it THE best when the hubby decides to cook? A much needed break for us mamas.
Hahaha Guts and Butts. Best name for a gym class ever. I swear, they must make up names like that for the exact purpose of making people feel silly, "Uhm, excuse me, which way to the Guts and Butts class?"

Love the thing about the sock. Mostly because that has TOTALLY happened to me. It's awfully embarrassing. :)

haha I love your comment about your sock falling out of your pant leg. Why does this always seem to happen at the most inappropriate times? Sheesh. Well, you look darling!

I feel you about the whole navigating down the stairs for the few days after an intense gym class. My husband things I'm insane, haha!
Hi Sydney, I just started reading your blog yesterday and have already gone through a great deal. You are such an inspiring, modest, funny young woman. Thank you for being a wonderful witness to all that is virtuous and good :)
Love the gym stories, so funny! Can't wait to start to doing gym classes again, those are just all around awkward. There is no getting past it. I'm loving everything Windsor has sent you!
This made me laugh!!!
Happy Thursday!
P.S. Jealous that your husband is cooking!! I dream of that day...
Hahahaha I love this!! I always am guilty of singing the song I was listening to when I get out of the car...but it got real awkward when I was in one of the campus parking lots and I was in my own little world singing away and getting things out of my trunk, only to look behind me and see three Asian guys laughing and chattering and pointing at me. All time low=reached. Ooops.
I always try to get behind the most in shape people in classes at the gym too. Best motivation! Lol
Super cute outfit, love the Hunters :)
This is my favorite part of your blog - always makes me smile :)
Lone sock and singing... definitely had that problem before. I love your awkward and awesome posts :)

I know that day after gym feeling, haha :) Walking down the stairs is the worst! I hope you have a great weekend ♥
You think a sock is bad? Once, in high school, I went straight from track practice to church youth group. I scrambled to change and get all of my clothes into my car and all of that. So, I think I'm all good, walking into church cool, calm and collected. Then, one of my friends grabs me, pulls me aside and hands me the hot pink bra that apparently had gotten stuck on my purse buckle and was hanging for all of the world to see.
Ohhhh MAN was that an awkward hour of church that followed.
P.S. Cute coat :)

And we always thought the washer and dryer stole them! Maybe were just taking them out in our pant legs!
loving the top and the cute bag!
You look really good, I just love to see you wearing your Wellingtons, they are so sexy.

Ok Syd, i totally know that awkward sock moment...only so much worse!!! I ran to the supermarket in the middle of baking 'cos i dind't have any eggs, and i had been baking in my pj's so i threw on some jeans & a top...only to discover in the check-out line that there was a pair of knickers poking out from my skinny leg jeans!!! WTF?! I raced home & laughed so hard i cried trying to explain to my husband what had happened!
I can't get enough of this jacket. For one, I love how "urban" it looks, so perfect for running errands all day around the city; but what really gets me is that beautiful peach colour! Pastels are my weakness these days! :)
Happy 1st of March!
"guts and butts".....I died!!!
Haha the sock story is funny. I had something similar happen to me, although it was with bright yellow thongs!!!

Style in the City
i had that moment, singing to an outkast cd really loud, really late, in a grocery store parking lot with my future hubby. we didn't realize there was a man corralling carts way behind us in the lot. he came closer and said, "isn't track 7 the best?"
I want to know how on earth you go to the gym. Daycare? Hubby watches him? I have only been once on a Saturday morning since my lil man was born and it is killin me.
Yay for date nights!
so glad you guys are getting fun date nights! and girls nights! you are one lucky (and beautiful) momma!
I love that orange jacket! And your Thursday posts always make me chuckle! :D
Omg the sock! One time I was sitting in class and reached into my sleeve only to find a pair of underwear that must have gotten stuck in the wash. So embarrassing! What do you do with a pair of underwear in the middle of class??? Stick it back up your sleeve, of course.
Haha, I had to laugh at your pile of wrappers. Hubby and I were eating a bag of the FaveReds Starburst Jelly Beans. Um, we ate the whole bag in one day. And we got to the very last one we both looked at each other like "What? That's the end?" SO bad!
Have a fun date night!!!
i love hunter boots! I think we've all had an awkward dropping story, tampons, tissues . . . eh socks. :) haha so awesome. Cute braid! Happy Day!

Those gym stories were hilarious--makes me feel bad for not going to the gym though, really should do some sort of exercise.
And being awkward in front of your neighbour, have I been there--I was just putting out the rubbish and it was dark and then my neighbour said hello but I hadn't seen him and he made me scream so loud right in his face--awkward!
hahaha sore legs/backside and stairs are the WORST combination!! feels like jelly. also, reisens are the best...i got a bag last week for the first time in a while, and i'm trying to make them last! haha
I'm wearing a coral colored shirt today too!
I love the awkward awesome Thursday! So funny, and such a good idea! Couldn't enjoy your blog more <3

I had the sock situation only w underwear too! In a college class of about 20, in the very front of a room, at a boys feet. They were pink and lace and the non bottom covering kind.....
We both laughed awkwardly, professor asked what was so funny, I had to explain... Yeah....
I about laughed myself do death from your sock story. A very similar thing happened to me in the grocery store once and it still gives me a good giggle. Glad I'm not the only one!
The pictures are amazing. It is tempting to look at them a long time.
Congratulations!

i can't believe that you had a baby just a few months ago! you are gorgeous
That happened to a friend of mine. In lecture. But instead of a sock it was a pair of underwear.

laughing out loud about the post-gym-waddle. It's the worst, yet so great at the same time. It's so bad when I can't even sit down on the toilet seat without lowering myself down with my hands! Haha congrats on the chef in your house - must be nice!
itsthelittlethingsblog.blogspot.com/
A one up on your awkward sock moment . . . when you are in high school warming up for a basketball game and because of static electricity, a pair of underwear is stuck to the inside leg of your warm-ups. The underwear eventually falls out on the court . . . in front of the entire arena. Then you TRY to pretend they are not yours.
Worse than dreaming you go to school with no clothes on because a. you are awake and b. your undergarments are on display. Come to think of it that may have been on a Thursday ;).
Love the post and the outfit.

I can totally relate to the post-gym-class walk. One time my sister and I took a class and I'm pretty sure a few tears leaked out as I climbed the stairs that night. It's painful even thinking about it.
Such a pretty coat. loves it.

I am so loving that jacket on you. Is that recent or old? You have such amazing style. I love it!
I had never been into Windsor before. Stumbled across it a few weekends ago and was clearly the oldest person in there...by more than a decade!!! But I actually bought that coat in black when I was there. I wanted a color other than black, but that's all they had. Super duper cute...and flattering!
Love the colors! Beautiful
