104 the new year's resolutions I thought about at 5am
Sometimes 4 or 5 AM feedings are good for catching up on twitter. Sometimes they're good for resting your tired eyes until you violently head bob and remember what you're doing. And sometimes they're good for thinking. The morning of my birthday I woke up {as usual} to a sweet and hungry babe, a diaper change and a groggy husband who I'm pretty sure said "happy birthday Syd" in his sleep. It didn't feel like my birthday {a scavenger hunt and candle topped blackberry/raspberry pie helped remedy that in a hurry}, but I did feel older. In a good way. Ready to start the new year. For some crazy reason I feel like 2012 is the year for big and exciting things. Regardless of the fact that I have a very new baby. Or maybe because I have a new baby. My outlook has changed. My resolve has become stronger. And maybe if it wasn't for those quiet early morning moments, I wouldn't have taken the time to even realize it. I'm looking forward to this year, because it's the first one that I won't be living entirely for myself. This new kid in town is helping me to be better, maybe a little wiser, and develop greater capacity for love and patience. Anyway. That got kind of serious. Point is ... here's to 2012 and kicking some resolution booty.
Resolutions 2012:
Be Strong: work out 3-5 mornings a week & be ready for the mud run in April
Be Healthy: just dang domesticate yourself and become a connoisseur of quick and healthy meals. Remember to eat healthy snacks between meals.
Be Smart: read five books, start to finish. Write actual letters. And embrace new opportunities. They'll help you grow.
Be Happy: remember to be grateful, date Tyson regularly, take time to greet him when he comes home, treasure the small things, thoroughly enjoy your first year as a mom. A mom!
Be Wise: devote more time daily to spiritual development
Be Motivated: shower and get dressed. Stuff actually gets done when you do.
Be Organized: organize your day/week into designated segments and make Excel your very best friend

Ha. It's funny because I have these thinking/praying moments when I'm up super early or in the middle of the night treating my low blood sugars. Happy 2012 to you and yours! :)
I love the be motivated one! It's true, I have a new baby and find that I am more motivated when I shower and get pretty! Happy New Year Sydney!

What great resolutions! I feel like they are realistic and obtainable unlike most of my resolutions! I think that staying motivated is the key to making all of the other ones happen!

These are perfect resolutions. I can tell your outlook has changed now that you're a mother. I'm super excited for the year and can't wait to see what's in store for you. :)
Man, I need to workout more, part of my new mom resolution, too. My daughter is 5 months old now and finding time to do it all is tricky, but it all starts with a shower and putting on an outfit. That's actually why I started a mommy fashion blog: to encourage other mom's to get up everyday and get dressed! Anyways... happy 2012! XO

Haha - the one about getting showered and dressed is just so true!! Unfortunately my subconscious seems to have learned this, so it's making me not want to shower... (Trying to anyways, I swear I still shower occasionally!)
Be Movitated: shower & get ready!
OH my gosh. Me too. Such a difference when I do. I gotta do it more often :)
Are you a member of Goodreads.com? I commute 3 hours each day to and from work and get most of my book recommendations from the site! I would definitely recommend it!

Your list of resolutions is so practical! So many people make resolutions that they already know they probably won't follow through on. I have no doubt that you will be able to fulfill all of your resolutions this year!
I had my son last January and it really is the best kind of wonderful! It has made me more patient (most of the time) and given my life a whole new meaning. I, too, look forward to being wiser, happier, healthier, and stronger this year. These are great life-long goals. Look forward to watching your journey continue. Good resolutions! I just had my son two weeks before you had E....He is our second son. I just did my resolution post and put it on my blog, one of which was get up and get ready before the kids get up. It's amazing how a shower and brushed hair and a little lipgloss will motivate you for the day! However I do love all your goals..

Sounds like you are off to a fabulous New Year Syd!!!!!!! Hope this year you do kick some booty!!!!! Beautiful Mama.....
I love your list of resolutions! I always feel like I have to pick one thing... I like of you encompassed them all.
wonderful resolutions... i took a similar approach and figure that if i work on my relationships (God, boyfriend, family, friends), my health, and my passions then everything else will fall into place.
I love the idea of "dating" the person you are dating, is it too easy to just fall into the monotony of life.
cheers
I just recently found your blog and I am really enjoying it! I'm having my first baby in March, and I completely identify with feeling like 2012 will be a big year! Love your resolutions as well.
Great resolutions! Especially love the sentence: "stuff gets done when you do" - you're so right about that.
Love from Holland!
Brilliant resolutions! I have to admit that they are different to mine, but I feel like they're much better. Wiser already!
I especially liked this bit, 'and make Excel your very best friend'. I guess I'm ahead of you on that one...
Same resolutions! Exactly the same! It will be difficult but it's a resolution purpose, don't it?
Lovely resolutions. I was actually thinking about doing a half marathon in april, but I haven't actually made up my mind yet... It's in april and I'm not sure if I'll be fit enough for that by then...
xoxo

Wonderful and Marvelous
