the good. and the bad.

Boots: Hunter, Jeggings: Target, Top: Gap, Leather Jacket: c/o Windsor Store
Right now, it's 6:00 on Tuesday night. I'm sitting here with a cup of tea while I feed my sweet baby. My favorite song is on. Tys will be home soon. And my siblings will be arriving for Thanksgiving week {hoorah!} in approximately five hours.

Also.

All three floors of my house have died and gone to you know where. My still undone laundry pile is literally a load of crap. And I took my freshly washed, fed and changed son to the doctors today only to discover the poor guy had soaked himself clean through by the time we got there. The nurse said to me, "oh. does he have anything CLEAN he could wear?" I am a mother scorned.

But hey. I actually smell decent. Like baby lotion. So we're gonna chalk this up as a good day.

November 23, 2011 5:19 AM

you are so cute little lady!

November 23, 2011 5:20 AM

The most important things come first! And laundry is certainly not on the list of importants, in my opinion. :)

November 23, 2011 5:25 AM

Yes, when you have a brand new baby, laundry and cleaning the houve goes to the bottom of the list, definetly!!! Sometimes I only washed the baby's clothes and that was it!!
Meeting up with the family sure is really special! i can't wait to see my sisters and parents in 3 weeks!!

the change of clothes will be in the diaper bag from now on. Don't let anyone get you down about that or about the laudry...it will get done sooner or later. As long as you all have something clean to wear, no worries!

November 23, 2011 5:41 AM

First! Beautiful pictures!
Second! What an amazing Thanksgiving! Perfect time to welcome in the newest family member :)

November 23, 2011 6:17 AM

we took Eli (freshly washed, changed, dressed) to his doctor's appointment last week. not only had he pooped and peed in his diaper, he then proceeded to poop and pee alllll over the exam table and then wiggle around in it and smear it all over his body while screaming bloody murder. way to make a good first impression. soooo...you aren't alone :)

i don't know how these babies can poop AND pee three times or more in an hour. i'm kind of jealous.

November 23, 2011 6:36 AM

wow it will be crowed! I love your photos!! they always looooook sooo great!

November 23, 2011 6:39 AM

You look beautiful!
Hopefully all of your siblings can take turns holding Baby and you can catch up on life? or just having your arms back! Ha.
Baby sisters were made to help clean the floors!
Happy Thanksgiving.

November 23, 2011 6:56 AM

you look great !! people are just so rude!

November 23, 2011 7:06 AM

Just when you think you get a handle on parenting, something will change and you'll have to figure it out all over again. The good news is that you look great and have a seemingly wonderful family to enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving!

November 23, 2011 7:13 AM

You are beautiful! Have a great Thanksgiving with your family!

November 23, 2011 7:23 AM

ugh, that happened to me the first dr appt i took my 5 day old to. i didn't even bring a diaper bag, he didn't actually need all that stuff! except he did, cause he had a blowout. and the nurse (a guy! even!) was all, don't you have a diaper? and then "oh, you're a first time mom, you'll get it." i wanted to slap him. but instead i had to send my mom home to get the diaper bag.

November 23, 2011 7:23 AM

oiii Sydney, amei seu blog e desde que descobri estou sempre passando por aqui ;) parabéns pelo baby que é lindo!!!

It's all good and bad. And it's okay to admit that sometimes things aren't great. I just read some things that made me thankful for everything I have as a mother, I had to write a thankful post about it: http://modamama.blogspot.com/2011/11/privilege-of-giving-thanks.html

At this point, the floors and laundry don't matter, girl!

And you know how many times I haven't had anything else for my son to wear? It happens! Totally okay! You're doing great!

November 23, 2011 7:39 AM

spending the holiday with your family and your new baby sounds like the best holiday to me.
p.s. don't worry about the nurse, clearly, you're doing a great job:)

November 23, 2011 7:48 AM

I feel like a lot of times new moms are afraid to admit that its not all roses and sunshine. Almost like the world will think they don't love their little bundle of joy. But we need to say these things out loud and know that we aren't the only ones.

November 23, 2011 7:51 AM

November 23, 2011 7:59 AM

First of all, how do you look so good already? Second, how do you even have the time and energy to wash your hair let alone put together a cute outfit and take pictures??

Believe me, I think I went 2 months without mopping the kitchen floor when we had our little one. Nothing gets or stays clean very long in the beginning :)

you have the most amazing attitude. thanks for being such an encouragement and example to new mothers. my son is 18 months now, but I remember all too well how much I struggled with so many things after he was born. your life turns upside down, and you're not sure what to do with it! have a very happy thanksgiving, and let your siblings do the laundry! : )

Fear not my friend having a baby doesn't come with instructions! And you look adorable and I am sure that nurse has had a wet baby from time to time. Happy Thanksgiving!

Being a new mom you have to look at both sides of the spectrum! You're doing a great job though Sydney!

November 23, 2011 8:53 AM

You'll learn, especially with the second child, to either ignore rude comments or realize they weren't meant as rude to begin with. I think the first child is the worst. You have no idea what you're doing and you feel like everyone in the world is watching you, waiting for you to make a mistake. Just remember nobody's perfect no matter how perfect they may seem! :)

November 23, 2011 8:53 AM

hahahaha, too funny.
don't take it too seriously, just a lesson to always pack a second outfit :)

i love how you and tys don't let the bad affect you so much...like that time he laughed when everett pee'd all over the place, again! i think you're both seeing things in the right perspective.

November 23, 2011 8:59 AM

I have been reading your blog for months- and I just love you! But have to comment now that I know your little babe's name! I have a 19 month old- Emmitt Stone, and a lite 2 month old. Cherish these sweet moments with your babe. They pass all too fast!

sounds about normal to me, so you must be on the right track. I laugh at the nurse's response...acting like she hasn't ever seen that before...silly nurse.

November 23, 2011 11:23 AM

Balance is not easy to achieve; if it was everyone would be walking around saying bring it on instead of dealing with what they have. Your priorities sound right though.

November 23, 2011 12:12 PM

Don't worry about the clean clothes for the baby thing! I used to get scorned all the time. I look really young and so when I was pregnant, I had a lot of people lecture me on teen pregnancy, but I was in my twenties. My baby was a "whoopsie!" and I wasn't married yet. So, one day I went to work (Old Navy), and an older woman was asking me if some shirt looked good on her. Then she said, "There better be a daddy for that baby" and then went on and on assuming that I was just some twenty something knocked up and abandoned by some guy. Needless to say, I started crying uncontrollably in the middle of a busy store.

One thing I noticed right away was that when you're pregnant and/or a mom, some people think that gives them the right to say things to you. Now, I am used to it and either walk away or laugh it off....

November 23, 2011 12:23 PM

Clean clothes...or watching baby....I think we know which one is better.
But seriously, don't worry so much about it. And hey, maybe your sisters could come help you during Thanksgiving? And it's Thanksgiving. They should be THANKFUL to help! :)

I'm sure your family will help around the house! And I'm sure they will LOVE it! And you know what? The "scorning" won't stop. You will make mistakes, and people will notice. And some other things you won't think are mistakes, but other people will. Just keep your head up and do your momma thaaang!

November 23, 2011 2:57 PM

hi

i was wondering if you take your own images. If so, what camera do you use and what type of lens?

Thank you:)

December 01, 2011 9:32 PM

Seriously, don't even sweat it. My daughter was a super trooper when she was tiny. So one day I was feeling like a rock star (durring week 2) and decided to take her out for some all day shopping with one of my girlfriends. I remembered everything... bottles, wipes, blanket, change of clothes (just in case)... everything except the diapers... Her spare onsie ended up turning into a makeshift cloth diaper and I was getting the stare down from all the veteran moms in the restroom. I was so embarrased. We immediately left and I brought her back home where I couldn't forget anything.

I'm sure you're doing wonderfully :)
