man up

Friday, October 7

Shoes:Vera Wang for Kohls, Jeggings: c/o Windsor Store, Top: Husbands H&M, Belt: Husbands UO, Watch: Gift, Sunnies: Target, Clutch: c/o Chicwish
Don't ask me why it's taken this long for me to raid Tys's closet. Who needs maternity when you have man stuff at your fingertips? Button-up and T-shirt HEAVEN. {Pretty soon, people won't even be able to tell us apart. Dream come true!} Actually, it's probably taken me this long cause I knew that if I wore his stuff, that would mean I would have to iron out all the 'tucked-in' wrinkles at the bottoms of his shirts. But who are we trying to kid here? I DON'T IRON! Wrinkles or no wrinkles, there is some good comfy junk in that closet people. Things are about to get a little more manly around here.

And P.S. to those of you who've asked: sorry, but besides wearing men's clothing ... I don't have any juicy maternity secrets to tell you. Everything that I wear is either low rise and really stretchy, has an elastic waist or is tied together with a rubber band. I've tried maternity pants, thought I liked them, but they kept sliding off my anti-butt so I took them back. And belly-bands ... I don't know why, but I just haven't had the desire to try them. Probably too preoccupied with all things that end in -eggings. It's a pregnancy love affair. But I promise that if between now and next month I find some secret clothing invention that blows my mommy mind, I'll be sure to share.

I love those boots! You look adorable, as always

October 07, 2011 6:06 AM

I have an anti-butt as well, and will start referring to it as such. I swear it's concave sometimes.

I love the envelope clutch!

I'm avoiding maternity clothes as much as I can too. My mom sent me a few things, which I love, but I'm going to go for using as much of what I already have and what my husband has. I'd save my pennies for all the things we'll need to buy for the baby!

October 07, 2011 6:18 AM

You look adorable! I've also discovered the husband's clothes. Glad to know it will be more handy when I'm expecting!

October 07, 2011 6:52 AM

Thank goodness my husband doesn't dress up for work (he's a mechanic) b/c I hate ironing dress clothes! My iron & ironing board are for sewing projects only. I'm envious that you can wear leggings every day of the week. The office I work in doesn't see them as "appropriate" and I was forced to buy uncomfortable maternity dress pants - ugh. I hate getting dressed in the morning! How many more weeks of this?!

October 07, 2011 7:02 AM

Yeah, it's all about stretchy and low-rise. Pregnancy heaven! And post-pregnancy heaven too!

I'm so amazed at how fashionable you are while pregnant. I seriously have never seen a cuter mommy to be! And, I'm in love with your clutch!

Just wait. Someday the Men's Department will say Men's/Maternity. Genius...and cheaper, for the win!

October 07, 2011 7:24 AM

My philosophy is when in doubt-check out what's on my husbands side of the closet. The man has style ;) I usually steal his belts.

October 07, 2011 7:26 AM

Haha I'll have to look in my own H's closet see if I can find anything.....

October 07, 2011 7:40 AM

I normally wore low-rise pants too. But belly bands were amazing. I wish they made them for non pregnant women too!

October 07, 2011 7:45 AM

You look great. Love the belt!

October 07, 2011 7:47 AM

How do you get all your belts to stay put? I've been trying to rock a regular belt around my natural waist but have yet to find a way to tie/fasten it to make it stay and not look crazy. Thoughts?

October 07, 2011 7:53 AM

Oh goodness, why didn't I think of this before? Watch out man closet, here I come!

October 07, 2011 7:53 AM

You look great in Tys clothes!! It's always a plus when you can save just by switching closets. Just promise he won't be wearing your clothes anytime soon ;)

October 07, 2011 7:54 AM

I somehow knew that shirt was Ty's, you totally rocked it, the belt is the perfect touch, hope you guys enjoy the weekend!

Thanks for answering my question! I figured you were just doing the regular "make it work" method, but I had to ask juuuuust in case you had a magical secret. Keep inspiring us other prego gals with your amazing fashion sense and great attitude!

Seriously... Maternity pants always slide down! And I hate the full panel ones. They itch like crazy!

October 07, 2011 8:41 AM

TOTALLY hear you. I think I'm a week behind you, regardless, no maternity stores carry a decent size 0 for my petite but still prego body. But thank goodness for the "jegging" trend, almost every store has good denim jeggins in my size now! I use a hairband to loop my button too (: Last week I found a pair of thick jean jeggings at AE that will fit me in 8 more weeks as well!

October 07, 2011 8:48 AM

Oh and btw you totally make me want to grow out my hair, just so I can do that super cute bun on the top of my head!

October 07, 2011 9:24 AM

I wish my hubby's sizes were closer to my own. I did however adopt a bowling shirt that was in our closet and too small for hubby. Not as a fashion statement, but out of necessity. Good luck with you in your final count down! I know I am frazzled and excited.

October 07, 2011 9:35 AM

heehee. Yes! I have a love affair with all things -eggings also. Also low-rise and hairbands keep my pants up. I have an anti-butt also and maternity pants just slide off my anti-butt :( and the full panel ones make me too hot.

You are ROCKIN your hubby's clothes. I'm going to have to raid my husbands closet now. who knew?!

this is my favorite of your outfits! gotta love the husband's closet!

October 07, 2011 11:58 AM

I had the same problem with maternity pants at first, but that was when I was wearing the silky kind of ummm... underwear. Then I tried the cotton-poly blend maternity bottoms and they were SO MUCH BETTER! I only have 2 pairs of maternity pants from Old Navy (for $15 a pair), and they are the kind with the low-rise band. At first I couldn't stand them because I was constantly having to pull them up, but once I tried the different underwear, the fabric band had more grip. I can still wear regular pants low if I want, but I like the maternity pants a lot more. After my pregnancy I think I might switch to cotton-poly bottoms forever because I've ALWAYS had the problem of pants slipping down my butt, especially every time I sit down and stand back up since I usually wear the Karanessa kind and they are more slippery. Anyway that's a lot of info but I just thought I'd let you know in case that might be your problem, too!

October 07, 2011 12:01 PM

Raiding husband's closet is such a genius idea! I will defnitely be wearing his clothes by the end of this pregnancy!

So cute! And I'm with you on being anti-maternity pants. Using an elastic band to increase the waist is my trick.

Haha what a great idea! I'll have to remember that next time I'm prego. I love the colors on your belt. I remember my mom buying me indian belts kind of like that with the beads when I was younger.

BTW I'm starting a new series this month. You should stop by and take a look. =)

You look great. I wished I had thought to check my husbands closet when I was pregnant, but I never thought of it. All three times. How silly is that??

October 07, 2011 1:23 PM

There's something so awesome about wearing men's clothing. I'm so glad you discovered it!
And, though I'm not pregnant, I'm kind of obsessed with anything ending in -egging lately as well. It's kind of a problem.

I used my hubbys button down shirts while I stayed in the hospital. Not only were they more comfortable, easy to breastfeed, but I didn't look as dumpy as I would in a drab hospital gown. :)

October 07, 2011 2:25 PM

I'm happy to know that I'm not the the only one with an anti-butt. I thought I would gain a little tushie with pregnancy, but alas, I did not. My husband jokes that if it weren't for my face he wouldn't know if I was facing forward or backward looking at my rear.... sad, very sad.

I have a butt and maternity pants still don't stay up. It's not us, it's the stupid pants.

October 07, 2011 10:44 PM

Ha Ha- When I was pregnant with my daughter I wore everything with a rubber band holding it together. My parents thought I was nuts!!!

October 08, 2011 12:10 AM

I did not wear maternity clothes when pregnant with my son! Low rise denim worked for a long time and then I switched to leggings and dresses with tights. Besides, a few years ago, stylish maternity clothes was slim pickin's. Also, maternity pants were never that comfy to me, either--and I have a butt.

You look great in Tys' shirt. Love the top bun, too.

October 08, 2011 5:36 AM

I have an anti-butt too! But I had to have some jeans for this fall--my Old Navy maternity jeans seem to work well. Sometimes I have to pull them up, but the smooth panel helps. I also have some comfy twill trousers that I bought last year at Anthropologie with a knit waistband--perfect for maternity wear!

I'm going to raid my husband's button-downs now.

October 08, 2011 8:18 AM

I'm on my third pregnancy, and am using the belly band for the first time, and I love it. They come in different colors so it just looks like your layering. It makes it so I can wear my pre-prego clothes the whole time and covers the fact that I can't do up my zipper. Something the a rubber band/hair tye could never hide for me.

October 08, 2011 6:22 PM

You look amazing. I love that you wear your hubby's clothes. I wear my hubs clothes too, his shirt in particular. I love belted them! I'm honestly so inspired by your looks---always! Way to rock the prego belly!

Maternity pants sure are a hassle to wear as they keep sliding off then you keep pulling them up. I find jeggings or leggings to be comfortable to wear or anything that is stretchy. You look great!
