in town

Wednesday, October 12

My mom is in town this week. We're making homemade lasagna and chili, learning that a cart full of groceries can miraculously be conquered in an hour, watching Jane Eyre with hot chocolate and toffee popcorn, on a mission to add color and skinny jeans {gasp!} to her fall wardrobe, overstaying our welcome at Panera Bread {did you know that if you talk long enough, they'll actually clear your table for you?} and getting long overdue massages.

Best week ever?
I think so.

October 12, 2011 3:56 PM

aww have fun with your mom!

October 12, 2011 4:00 PM

My mom's recently made the foray into skinny jeans. She claimed for years that they were "too young." But she's been proven wrong! The ones she swears by are Ann Taylor Loft's skinny jeans and Not Your Daughter's Jeans (sold at Macy's and Nordstrom). Both of them fit older women's bodies while still looking super hip and awesome.

October 12, 2011 4:31 PM

oh, trust me.
panera bread & i have had many awkward experiences.
such as cuddle bug & and spending an awfully long time sitting in their lounge chairs just talking.
i swear the man took our trash, then offered us refills...then asked if we were going to buy anything else...then started vacuuming under the chairs we were sitting on....
awkward.
the boy and i decided we were no longer welcome.

October 12, 2011 4:59 PM

Oh, I'm so looking forward to my parents coming to visit me from the US (I'm in Australia). Can't wait to do all those simple but wonderful things with them... just hanging out in cafes, catching up, soaking in the sun, antique shopping in small towns. Can't wait!

Sounds like you had a blissful time visiting with your mom. Any success on working skinny jeans into her wardrobe?

October 12, 2011 5:04 PM

How nice...I enjoy the time with my daughter Complicated Kai, in San Diego....as I now call her. I was just thinking before I read this that more of us "older" lovelies would enjoy blogging. Does your mom blog? As a new blogger, recent retiree, there are a lot of techno stuff to learn, but it is really an outlet I think others would enjoy too.

October 12, 2011 9:16 PM

OH my gosh, I instantly knew that plate!!! Hahaha. Love Panera-- their mac and cheese is to.die.for. :]

Enjoy time with your mama! Bet you can't wait to meet your little one!!
