so long summer

Wednesday, September 21

I went on a walk around the neighborhood this morning.
Until my Braxton Hicks told me that was quite enough.
It was cool and crisp and cloudy. And amazing.
Fall starts on Friday! oh happy day.
Guess this means I should start thinking about what to wear for Halloween?
I'm refusing to be any form of a basketball ... or a pumpkin.
Guess that leaves me with "beached whale"

Once when I was big and prego I was a bunny for halloween. buy the ears and a puff ball tail. then all you need is a big white sweatshirt and white sweatpants (or grey) and you're a comfy and warm bunny. ha! Love the fall!!!

ok, see, your baby bump in that picture makes way more sense to me, as when i saw your photos from yesterday's post, i thought, "wait...is she shrinking?".

that's what i get for not reading the whole post. disclaimers prevent confusion.

You should be a KANGAROO! I think that would be the cutest little pregnant costume ev-er.

:)

p.s. I love these pictures!

I saw a picture on pinterest of a couple that wore white tee shirts with huge bellies and each of them were 1/2 of a bra. So the belly was the ah hem... boob, and they sewed half of a bra shape in a bright color onto the tee. You should make your hub put on a belly and do that! It was super funny.

Love your pics! I love how swing pictures always tell a story. I can't wait to see what your going to dress up as.

I have a cousin who was a belly dancer for halloween with the flesh colored fabric over the tummy. it was adorable. I also saw someone who was the solar system and the baby was the sun. But that seems too "I'm huge" to me...

Whitney said...

You could be the "birds and the bees", thats what me and my husband are thinking about being!

My cousin and her husband had cute costumes for Halloween when she was pregnant! She put a box over her belly and decorated it so it looked like an oven, and had a sign that said "I have a bun in the oven" and her husband was the cook! It was really cute :)

I was Juno for Halloween when I was pregnant. Not very original, but it was easy and worked well.

Erin said...

last year I was not pregnant but I dressed up as the rapper MIA at the grammys. She wore this amazing dress: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/02/09/article-1139386-03598A50000005DC-428_468x665.jpg

No one really got it and I guess it was kind of weird because I was faking being pregnant but I loved the costume and people still thought it was a cool dress.

It would be cute to do a family costume too (skeleton family or not), including the baby and husband :)

you'd be the cutest beached whale ;)

When my friend was pregnant, she was a disco ball. I have another friend who, admittedly, is more of a hippie but she was mother earth. Happy almost Fall!!

I am SO ready for fall! Boots and cardigans here I come! You will be the cutest pregnant woman on the block, so don't stress too much about the Halloween costume:)

i'm sad to see summer go.

I was going to make myself a shirt that said "pumpkin smuggler" when I was 34 weeks pregnant on Halloween, but didn't... and ended up being a reporter. Dumb. Oh well. I had my baby 4 days later (yes early!) and I didn't really care after that!

thewischlist.com said...

You are the cutest. Both of you. Seriously. :-)

Laura said...

If you wanted to be hilarious, you could get a bunch of multi-ethnic dolls and go as a pregnant angelina jolie and your hubby could go as brad pitt. You'd have to carry all the dolls around though or put them in a stroller or baby carrier or something! Oh oh!...You could get some of those big red fake wax lips too!

Kirsten said...

I have a friend that wore all black then made a fabric replica of the earth and pinned it on her big tummy and went as Mother Earth. I thought it was super cute and creative.

What fun ideas! Great suggestions, Ladies! Whatever you decide to be, you better post lots of pics!

You should be mother nature! You can wear a long neutral colored maxi dress to cover up the bump. Add some leaves/flower crown and other earthy things to make the costume complete!

How about the Mayor of Munchkin City or Violet from Willy Wonka!

Super cute preggo costume I saw last year? Captain Hook for your hubby and you go as Mr. Smee. A beanie, blue and white strip shirt and some comfy pants and you're set!

My Songbook said...

You could be a magic 8 ball :)

and on the small of your back you could put "ask again later," or "no."

Anyway, that is what my friend did a few years ago. I almost died laughing.

I was pregnant for two Halloweens in a row and didn't dress up because I couldn't figure out what to be. So then after I had my 2nd I came across my sister's friend's blog and she was preggo on Halloween and dressed up as a cute 50's house wife and her hubby was the milk man. SOOOO cute I was so mad I didn't think of that. So that's what I think you guys should do.

Emma Frances said...

Haha. The comment above me has the greatest pregnant costume idea. :] I love it! Anyway, I can't wait to see what you come up with for your costume! I'm sure you will look adorable though! And I love your summer pictures. :]

oh that's cute, one of your comments says "is Braxton his name?" That's pretty silly!!
Anyways, pregnant halloween costumes...Last year, when I was pregnant, I went as a "bun in the oven." My husband made an oven for me out of card board, complete with a light that indicated that it was cooking. Check out the picture, I got a lot of fun stares and smiles!

http://lungfam.blogspot.com/2010/10/halloween-2010.html

You'll be adorable, no matter what you go as.

my soul is the sky said...

i saw something once that was like a play on words. the husband dresses as chef and the wife is the "bun in the oven" or something...hmm research maybe. just an idea!

Alie said...

You kept your graduation robe, right? Dye it black (if it's not already) and you and your hubby can go as a pregnant nun and priest. Bahaha.

I think the kangaroo option is cute.
I'm going to be Juno for Halloween this year. While I haven't bought any of the costume yet, I've already bought my jug of Sunny D and I'll put yellowish paint on the inside of the empty jug.

Good luck!

When I was pregnant I dressed up as Pam from The Office and my husband dressed like Jim. Then we put name tags on ourselves and I put one on my stomach that said Soybean Halpert. If you watch The Office there is an episode where they call their baby soybean. It was easy and we had everything already in our closets.

But you could go as Britney Spears or Juno or any iconic celebrity who's been pregnant and your hubby could be the significant other.
