Awkward and Awesome Thursday!!

Thursday, September 15

Shoes: c/o Ruche, Jeans: 7 for All Mankind, Shirt: Target, Vest: H&M
Awkward:
- Living in a neighborhood that feels private enough to go outside in my bathrobe to check the mail. A purple bathrobe mind you. That adds about 489384092 lbs. That's how private it feels. And then having every neighbor and their dog suddenly make an appearance. I tried to be confident about it, I did. So confident that I started running as fast as my pregnant body would carry me, burst through the front door and dashed to the blinds to do a status check. The running helped distract from the robe, I'm sure.
- Plumbers that live up to every bit of their plumber reputation. Pa-lease, would you get that thing out of my bathroom. Yes sir. Your bum.
- Doing a harmless teeth check in the car mirror. {It's my car alright? Free reign.} Only to have Doris in the next car over giving me the "You are no southern belle, are you?" look. That's right. I had spinach for lunch. Drink it in, Doris. Drink it in.
- A belly button that wants to be Mt. Vesuvius for Halloween.
- Placing a urine sample {TMI?} in the little "sample receiving" door they have at the doctors. Only to have a nurse open it at exactly the same time on the other side. "Oh hi. Uh. Here's my pee."

Awesome:
- The upcoming weekend! Where there's no such thing as husband working late.
- The daily walks I've been taking. They're supposed to loosen up my hips. But they're kind of just perfecting my waddle. Which is getting really sexy you guys. Mmm. Husband loves him some waddle.
- ohmygosh mandarin oranges. Had three whole cans in one sitting, and did not come up for air once.
- Crunchy peanut-butter on a spoon
- And more food. That I won't bother with here. Peace out, I'll be in my kitchen.

It's a special Thursday, isn't it?
My bathrobe is also purple, more lilac than purple though. And I will never wear it out so count yourself lucky.

Also, you're looking beautiful :)

September 15, 2011 3:07 AM

You weren't kidding about the newly-found hips! No wonder you got the boys whistling at you!

Hey - at least you got a whistle. That's more then I ever get! And that bullet point made me laugh pretty hard at 6:32 AM. So thanks for that!

I'm so glad so see an Awkward and Awesome!

September 15, 2011 5:11 AM

That's the goal of a fuzzy purple robe, if it isn't adding that much weight it's not doing it job.

September 15, 2011 5:26 AM

when I saw what today's post was, I thought "hmm betcha this is going to be even more awesome now that she's pregnant"

I'm glad I wasn't eating or drinking anything while reading how you were whistled at. HOW AWKWARD! oh my goodness!

Hope you and husband have an awesome weekend together!

September 15, 2011 5:37 AM

Oh man crunchy peanut butter yum! Seriously you are the most gorg pregnant woman ever! Is it weird that I've started a maternity fashion folder and it's pretty much all of your outfits? Thanks for being real and still being fabulous! xoxo

September 15, 2011 5:45 AM

haha! I remember when the same thing *whistle and silence* happened to me when I was pregnant. It always made me laugh!

September 15, 2011 6:31 AM

You are so funny and cute! I hope that I look as gorgeous as you someday when I decide to start my own family :)

September 15, 2011 6:32 AM

Yay for hips! :D
and yay for harmless teeth check in the car mirror. Nice to see I'm not the only one getting caught in the most awkward middle of preforming one. :)

September 15, 2011 6:37 AM

I am so jealous of how fabulous you still look!! I'm due about a week before you and it is much less pretty on me!! And I hear ya on the waddle. Hehe :)

September 15, 2011 6:44 AM

that SAME thing happened to me at my midwife clinic with my pee...i swore i heard her check the door like twice while i was in there, and then again at the exact time i went to put it in. like, whoa, for some reason she really wanted my pee.

September 15, 2011 6:46 AM

I'm DYING for a vest like that! You look glowing! I can't wait til you have your little one :)

and man, the pee...story of my life.

September 15, 2011 6:49 AM

all of your awkwards and awesomes are so freakin cute :)

September 15, 2011 6:50 AM

Lol A&A Thursdays are my favorite. My co-workers must think I'm nuts when I sit here and laugh out loud...to myself.

Definitely loving the vest here. I Just wrote a post the other day about whether or not I like them and this has helped convince me that I do!

-Alison

September 15, 2011 6:51 AM

Love the 'pee' one.. I'm always scared this is going to happen, have you even been in one of the bathrooms with two little doors to chose from? Or opening the door to find some else's pee still sitting there? Craziness I tell you.

September 15, 2011 6:52 AM

Love these!!!! you're gonna have to get preggo right after this one's born cause you're gonna have a hard time comparing to these A&A Thursday posts!

September 15, 2011 6:54 AM

I really loved this post. Even the awkward moments were awesome

September 15, 2011 6:55 AM

You're my favorite person ever. And I want that fur vest. AND THOSE SHOES. Myyyy goodness.

September 15, 2011 7:00 AM

HAAHAA!! I love the baby mama comment.. Love it.

September 15, 2011 7:01 AM

Aww you look gorgeous! I love hearing about DC (I'm from around there and now am in the south for college). Plus, I'm now terrified the urine sample thing will happen to me!

September 15, 2011 7:02 AM

You want to know what's awkward-this happened yesterday. I walked into my living room from my bathroom with my pants and bra on. I'm on the 2nd floor and have a big bay window in my living room. Well what do ya know, there's a working out there standing eye level to me. This is also not the first time this has happened. (Only one other time) You think I would learn..

September 15, 2011 7:16 AM

Oh how you make me laugh out loud!

September 15, 2011 7:22 AM

Oh how wonderful. I've had the awkward urine exchange as well. It's like, "no, I really didn't plan on having this close personal relationship with you. Goodbye."

September 15, 2011 7:25 AM

You are just TOO CUTE!!! LOVE the bump!!

ha ha ha, you are so funny Sydney!!!! You look AMAZING!!!!!!! Oh yes indeed, perfecting the waddle was always a magical thing that I loved when I was pregno with my girls!!!!! Keep enjoying eating all the things you love the most, isn't that one of the best things of being with baby, man I loved that too!!!!! I died laughing about the whistle from behind, I remember a few occasions where that happened to me, and oh the faces on those whistler's when they saw my huge stomach, it is so so hilarious! Have an Awesome day Beautiful Mama!!!!

September 15, 2011 7:43 AM

Love your Awkward and Awesome Thursday posts. Always puts a smile on my face. Thank you! <3

September 15, 2011 8:57 AM

I have SOOOOOOOOO done that (the pee door). It is awkward, but once the whole office has seen your goodies anyhow, it's just kind of like "meh". That baby bump just gets cuter and cuter!

September 15, 2011 9:06 AM

I love that you're getting cat calls with a prego belly! What a surprise that must have been! lol. Keep waddling your little butt around town, maybe even in your purple bathrobe.

xo L.

September 15, 2011 9:15 AM

Cat calls while pregnant are the best!

You look so great! I love Thursdays:).

September 15, 2011 9:25 AM

I'm guessing you don't live in D.C. but Virginia? Because there is no way you would think the neighborhoods in D.C. are private enough to go out in your purple robe. :) I want to move out of the big city! Too many people around all the time!

September 15, 2011 9:25 AM

Everything about the urine sample door is awkward. My first time, I didn't know what the purpose of the door was, so I just walked right out and handed the nurse the cup. Nothing as humbling as handing a stranger a warm cup of pee.

September 15, 2011 9:27 AM

RE Baby Mama Whistle: When I was about as pregnant as you, I was walking across the street in Old Towne, and a man in a truck whistled, then shouted, "Hey there Hot Mama! You got one lucky Baby Daddy!" Everyone crossing the street with me just started laughing, I turned purple, and the light changed. Too funny.

You look ADORABLE, mama!

September 15, 2011 9:29 AM

You look So Beautiful!!!!! =)

September 15, 2011 9:33 AM

oh my goodness, this post literally made me laugh out loud. too funny! i think we have all had those moments of walking out in public in our bathrobes. *mine is bright pink. and that belly button is just looking cuter with every post! so exciting that you are almost there!! i am always nervous too that when i go to stick my urine sample in the door that one of the nurses will be reaching in at the same time. especially when it takes me a while to get the urine flowing...(TMI?)
thanks as always for an amazing awkward and awesome!
xo TJ

September 15, 2011 9:35 AM

Awkward and Awesome Thursday makes me giddy. Seriously, it's my fave. Also, is there anything NOT awkward about pee? And peeing in a cup. Whose great idea was that?

September 15, 2011 9:45 AM

Goodness, gracious, Sydney. Your posts always make me giggle! The waddle part had me laughing out loud. :]

Oh my goodness... you got a cat call (not that I'm surprised or anything)??? That's just hilarious! My mom came for mom's weekend at BYU-I & was leaning in the car truck to get groceries & these guys pulled over to ask if she wanted help & then I came out & said "mom- need help?"... needless to say they did not know she was a mom & were trying to hit on her! haha!

September 15, 2011 1:31 PM

bahaha! you are hi-larious :) favorites that made me laugh out loud:
- your belly button that's in the halloween spirit
- opening the pee-door to see a little visitor...I'm always scared that'll happen to me! glad to know someone survived ;)
- mandarin oranges...totally reminds me of my sister! she'd down those little cans like there was no tomorrow.
- sexy waddle. bow-chicka-wow-wow.

You are so funny!
I have a similar story. I took my garbage out in my (pink) bathrobe about a month ago. My dog came with me. Usually she is fairly well behaved. But that day she decided to run across to the neighbor's home and jump all over them! I had to run over in my robe and grab her! Horrifying!
Anyway, I empathize! :)

September 15, 2011 5:12 PM

Okay the awkward moment with the pee in the receiving door made me laugh out loud. Love it.
