last night

Tuesday, August 30

Shoes: Aldo, Jeans: 7 for all mankind, Top: F21, Jacket: YesStyle, Glasses: UO, Bracelet: Vanessa Mooney
Last night husband had to finish some proposal thing for work that kept him up till 1. Between that, and this nightmare I had in which husband had decided to sign me up for a math class {these are the things that haunt me at night}, I was not a very happy pants when he finally made it upstairs to bed.

He's smooth with the whole irrational pregnancy madness thing though. He wraps me up tight in his arms so I can't squirm away and kisses my face all disgusting like until I say I love you. Although sometimes it comes out like FINE, I love you ... jeeze! But it still counts.

And then he'll brush my hair back and ask me what I'm really worried about. And then reassure me that I'm gonna knock the socks off this natural birth thing. And that he'll practice with me every day, because dude, I'm supposed to have the capacity to breath in slowly for a count of 20. And right now, my lungs think that 4 is a good stopping point.

The POINT is ... {or maybe there isn't one} ...
is that I just don't ever want to forget or take for granted how good he is. Because he's the best kind of good.

But now it's locked in my noggin {thanks blog!}

Haha, this is a cute post. And you can totally do the natural birth. As for the breathing, just start practicing randomly... when you can't sleep, when you are waiting for something, etc. You will be there in no time!

With that kind of husband, you're gonna have an awesome birth! (I did natural...and let me tell you, my husband is ultimately who made it possible!) :o)

Oh, and just remember, when you're in the thick of it. It will pass...the baby WILL come out, and you will be on the other side of it!

What a sweet husband to recognize you were worried about something. I completely sympathize. I opted for 2 unmedicated births via the Bradley method, and was pretty sure of that decision, but I always worried about my ability to REALLY do it. And then I did it, and you can too. All the practicing will help you both, and you'll know to just listen to what your body tells you to do at the time and do it and you will have a blessed experience.

Hypnobirthing is amazing. Practice A LOT!!! and it will be an amazing experience.

Annalea said...

I've done five natural homebirths, and let me tell you . . . you can do it. ;o) One question, though: how many books have you read?

Recipe for disaster: don't read any books, take one birthing class, and go to a hospital without visiting and talking to staff and finding out what you're getting yourself into. At least, that was my recipe for disaster. Read . . . there's a whole amazing world of birthing out there. One childbirth method is just a tiny slice.

If I could tell you just one thing, it would be this: read Birthing From Within . . . the best birthing prep book ever. It's not Bradley, or Lamaze . . . it's all kinds of things to help you face your fears and really and truly prepare for your birth. It's what helped me gain the courage to birth at home . . . and that has changed my life for the best.

If you're into alternative health/herbs and the like, I have a couple of tried & true, totally safe for pregnancy herbs that I've used for 3-5 pregnancies & births, that are wonderful.

You can do it!!!!!

I will not tell you to read any book, (except Jenny McCarthy's 1st one about pregnancy. easy read and freagin hilarious)
What I will say after having 3 kids, something in you that you never knew you had takes over. You know what to do, your body knows what to do, and thank goodness your doctor knows what to do.
No matter what you read, what class you take, who you talk to, it all ends up ok in the end. Before you know it, you have pushed out the best thing that has ever happened to you, and everything else before that is a blur.
I used an epidural, but it was still hard and I still felt things, but the minute they put that baby in my arms, I did not care.
And even though I had done it before, I got the same anxiety about childbirth for the 2nd and the 3rd, and they all ended up the same.
I do not like pain, but I would do it over a million times!
I hope that helps!!!!

I took birth as it came to me. I say don't put to much pressure on yourself to go all natural or not, because if you can't then you'll be super disappointed if it doesn't turn out the way you want. I'm sure you'll be able to do it though, just when you think you cannot take it anymore it's just about time to push.

I saw an earlier post where you posted your hypnobirthing book. I got so excited with that picture..lol... I had my first baby 10 months ago. A little boy and I did the Hypnobirthing method. It was the most amazing experience of my life. All my sisters were nervous for me. They honestly didnt think I was going to be able to do it. They thought I was a sissy lala apparently :) But the truth was - it was hard. But I was never scared, I wasnt in SO much pain, and the whole time I felt so much Love from my heavenly Father. My husband gave me a priesthood blessing when i went into labor at home and that carried me through. Birthing is the most natural experience a women can have. There is nothing to be afraid of. When i went to the hospital i had a list of things I did and didnt want. I didnt even let them give me an IV. I told them I wasnt sick and i was perfectly capable of drinking water to hydrate. I didnt need to be hooked up to a machine. We bought this kiddy pool and stuck it in the bathroom of the hospital room and filled it with hot water and i sat in their almost the whole time. I just got out when i was ready to push. It was so crazy. It was like i was in another world the whole time because i was just so relaxed. The water is amazing for the discomfort of contractions. I played a piano hymn cd and i had all the lights off in the room. My husband sat in from of the pool and held my hands the whole time. I birthed the baby on my hands and knees on the bed and it was so quick and easy for his delivery. When he was born I remember just looking at him and thinking "I know you, your my baby and youve always been mine." I remember thinking I didnt think I could do this and then I did...It was the most amazing experience of my life. You are going to feel so empowered and confident in yourself afterward. You will feel such gratitude for this amazing body youve been given that knows exactly what to do. You just have to trust it. I hope all goes well in this baby journey for you! You are going to do amazing! No one can bring this baby into this world but you. It is the most important thing you will ever do. Thats how blessed and amazing you are.
