How I knew it was going to be him

Dear Baby,
I had a dream about you last night. And in my dream, you were a boy. Are you a boy? With a head of blonde hair and little pink, pouty baby lips that never quite close? In my dream, I’ve never been happier. Just being with you made my heart want to burst wide open and wrap itself around you. Which sounds a little crazy. But that’s the only way I can describe it.
Last week, we got to see you for the first time at the doctor’s office. Your heartbeat was so fast and your little legs and arms {or rather … stubs. Don’t worry. You’ll get bigger} loved to kick. I looked at you and couldn’t stop laughing. You were really in there. Inside me. And you were mine.
Except the funny thing is, sometimes it’s hard to remember that you’re real. I’ve been your momma for 10 weeks now, but my tummy is still pretty small … kind of looks like I just ate a lot. Which I have been. Apparently, you have a taste for a limited variety of foods. Like pickles and broccoli at least 5 times a day.
Anyway, as strange as this may sound, that dream made you real to me. And love you. More than I thought was ever possible. So there it is little baby. I’m officially yours. You already have my heart wrapped around your little centimeter long finger. Your dad loves that I think you’re a boy now. {I wanted a girl a little bit, before last night} But now I want you, the baby in my dream, more than anything.

Can't wait to meet you. And your blonde little head that I already love so much.

xo

Lovely. You know, we were pretty convinced we were having a boy, and then I had a vivid dream I got an ultrasound and it was a girl. And when we did get that ultrasound, it was like dejavu. I love mother's intuition.

Dear Sydney,
You have brought my brown eyes to tears. No, I'm not sad, instead my heart is filled to the brim with joy! I have yet to experience pregnancy and even marriage (so I'm not close to having babies) but I write letters to my future babies and my future hubs.

This baby boy is going to be so blessed to have parents like you and husband.

All the best. ONLY the best.

My mom actually wrote in a journal to me since I was born. She gave it to me at my wedding. It was such a sweet thing she did over the years. She wrote about so many moments in my life that I may have forget about if she didn't. All the breakups, dance recitals, hard tests, homecomings...it was such a great gift.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Congratulations on Baby Boy and I can't wait to read some more.

ok, that tugged at the ol' heart strings. My son is 9 (even though he is a big boy now) he occasionally wants to pull out mom's box of letters that I wrote to him, all throughout my pregnancy and his early years. It facinates him, and brings me back to all those moments that are so easily forgotten. Enjoy. Every. Moment.
