Great tips. That monkey tie is AWESOME. My guy also has a thing for shoes and he has more than me...yep.

February 18, 2011 6:46 AM

Yeah, my husband is awesome but I have a hard time just getting him to shave. Lol. We have established he likes the 90's grundge yet clean look. "eye roll"

February 18, 2011 7:19 AM

Love that shirt!

February 18, 2011 7:44 AM

This is so timely. My boyfriend and I had a huge fight this morning because he packed a plaid shirt that was balled up in the bottom of his closet to wear out with me and my friends tonight.
My friends and I go to nice lounges and wear dresses. We would not look cute together if he wore that shirt! grrrr
I want him to complement me, like Barbi and Ken.
He finally said he would wear a Polo out that he's wearing to work for casual Friday.
I can live with a Polo and jeans.

He gets mad when I tell him he can't wear something. Any tips on making him WANT to look nice?

Thanks!

February 18, 2011 7:54 AM

love it...
we do the 'let's sort through your closet' dance every few years
& i love it!
& after we do it, he loves it too...
during, not so much...
:)

#5 is my favorite...easiest to forget when life is crazy, but so important!

thanks for the tips!

February 18, 2011 7:56 AM

Love reading your blog. My hubby and I met at BYU-I also, but back then it was Ricks. Love that place! I would love to come to your 5000 gathering and I totally speak Bachelor, you are so funny!

February 18, 2011 7:56 AM

oh, i am going to go read that right now because my husband asked me to style him for 1 full week! and i've never done it before. he is pretty fashionable on his own.

February 18, 2011 8:10 AM

That is the cutest shirt. And now I'm going over to learn how to dress mine. (Though, he does pretty good on his own.)

Happy day! Muah!

I love this... is it appropriate to send it to my husband with the subject line, "weekend plans". Because that's what's happening. THIS. WEEKEND.

thanks for the tips, sydney!

February 18, 2011 8:17 AM

you're just adorable

February 18, 2011 8:26 AM

As you've probably noticed, Andy is majorly into his T shirts. Since we've been married I've been trying to lead him away from them; but it has been a slow and grueling process! One thing I found that has helped was to emphasize how good he looks when he does dress things up a little, as you said in your post. What guy doesn't like to be told that!? Someday we'll get there...maybe...

February 18, 2011 8:41 AM

Syd, where did you get your T-shirt?! I want it for the morning after my wedding! <3

February 18, 2011 8:57 AM

Oh my gosh. That post that you wrote is JUST what I needed. My hubs and I have allotted a certain amount of our tax return to clothes shopping [hello, new wardrobe!] & I was DREADING it because my hubs is picky and directionless. It's going to seem dorky, but I'm writing down some of those steps. For real.

February 18, 2011 10:13 AM

I can only hope my future husband dresses like that! But if not, I guess I can always help him out! thanks Sydney!

February 18, 2011 10:14 AM

LOVE that you did this! I know my man can sure use a little (and by little I mean a lot) of help in this area. Thanks Sydney! :)

February 18, 2011 11:27 AM

I actually think that my husband has better style sense than me sometimes!

...Sometimes.

But great article!

February 18, 2011 11:32 AM

Cute! My hubby has always dressed nice. He has had to help me purge my closet and my sentimental HS t-shirts ;-)

February 18, 2011 11:42 AM

Too bad this wasn't on how to land a man, now that I know how to dress him & all ;)

February 18, 2011 11:55 AM

Great ideas.

My husband is 28 years old, but has a wardrobe that is half 18 year old (Abercrombie out the wazoo), half 50 year old (golf sweaters- bleh). He's stubborn and says that he doesn't need to change his style, but maybe if I buy him some great pieces he will come around. Here's hoping, right?

February 18, 2011 12:08 PM

detouring as we speak...

February 18, 2011 12:26 PM

You've inspired me to purge my husbands closet. I just told him of my plan and he said.....wait for it.....YES. HUH???? I was completely shocked. This is going to be fun.

Tracy

Great tips, but I'm afraid my husband won't let me dress him. Sometimes he takes my suggestions, but he'll never wear a complete outfit that I suggest. Your man has great taste though, keep up the good work!

Great post! Also, isn't the winner of the blowfish giveaway getting drawn today??! Exciting!

February 19, 2011 8:28 PM

I loved the article so much! I'm trying hard to update my bf's wardrobe but it is hard... especially the letting go phase. LONG work in progress.

Also, I LOVE your blog and check every post. But since when does that "click here to share" thing come up over every photo I scroll over? Is it possible to disable that or get rid of it? I feel bad complaining, but it's kind of annoying.

Anyways, thanks!
