probably not so entertaining

Friday, January 7

Shoes: Vera Wang at Kohls, Jeans: 7 for all Mankind, Top: Thrifted, Sweater: gift c/o Linda, Envelope necklace: c/o Anirtak, Hat: c/o Black Haired Broad
As you may have noticed, I had no post yesterday. And this was not from lack of trying my friends. No, I tried. And not only tried, but succeeded in finishing a successful Awkward and Awesome post. But blogger deleted it. Can you believe that? Gone. In the blink of an eye. And I wanted to stab Blogger with a knife. Came this close. But then I figured you'd all probably be pretty mad if I killed it, so I didn't. Just punched it in the face.
OK. All kidding aside. {say what? yes. just let me get serious for a sec} I love blogging, but yesterday I wanted to kill Blogger, because doing a blog post twice was just not in the cards for me time wise. I have felt seriously overwhelmed lately. Like pretty much drowning. Under school, under work, under freelance projects, under this crazy monster called an inbox and just life in general. You guys, if you have emailed me and I haven't responded ... it's not cause I haven't wanted to. Really. I just have to be so careful about how I spend my time these days as I'm trying to finish up these last few semesters. Honestly, I think my professors are trying to murder me. I love your emails. And your sweet and always entertaining comments. They are the sunshine to my day. And I will try my best to respond. It just might take a little longer than I like.
I will continue to post. As often as possible, if not every day. I love blogging. I love the creative outlet it provides me, and I have loved connecting with you in this crazy little blog world. But bear with me ... and if I make it out of senior year alive, I so look forward to the time when I'll be able to blog and photograph and design full time. And have the time that I so desperately want to be able to devote to this little passion that you and I share.
In the mean time. Maybe we can make up for yesterday's crappy bloggerness, and read each other's Awkward and Awesome posts! You see that little button on the bottom left there? Click on that puppy and let's Awkward and Awesome our little hearts out. Deal? Deal.

Thanks for reading friends. Really.
Your support and consistent positivity means the world.

Today I am grateful for the secret love note that husband put in my envelope necklace. It makes me super happy. And maybe slightly more mushy than I already am.

Ah sweet Sydney, don't worry you heart if you can't respond as frequently as normal. We all just ADORE you and are lucky to have your sunshiny posts. Gah, how mushy am I?! Anyway, sweet face, just keep doing your thang and all the best for last few semesters x

So sorry to hear you are stressed! I can totally relate. I'm finishing my last semester of my PhD. Ugh. I'm so ready to graduate, too! Here's to a less stressful and more reliable blogger! :)

Oh don't stress yourself out! I finished up my last semester in April and my entire senior year I focused on my small business (a business that started out as just a fun side project, it really wasn't that important to me, but the success WAS addictive). Anywho, recently I have realized that for the last year and a half my priorities have been all out of wack and I really regret spending so much time on that business. Enjoy your last semester- you'll probably miss it when it's over!

You look beautiful as always, you wear red lipstick so well (wish I can pull it off)

I empathize with you completely about the blogger slip up - I wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last blogger on Earth to lose blogposts instantly. The lack of an undo button after a save is really annoying to me. In any case, we readers understand your commitments so don't feel too stressed. :)

It's all good sista! No need to apologize. I often wonder how you have time to study, work and do all of these wonderful posts everyday. I think we can understand that you can't respond to each and every single one of our emails. Hope you're better today (stress wise)! You look smashing anyways.

I blog because I am bored, and I can not imagine how overwhelming it would be to blog EVERYDAY and have school, work, and a house hold.
Sorry blogger was just not on your side yesterday : ( We all love you

Blogger has done that quite a few times with me in the past couple months! So frustrating. Either way this outfit is adorable and I love that hat!

So sorry your stressed! And that stinks that blogger deleted your post :( I love reading your blog, I would follow even if you only had time to post once a week!

Hate it when blog suckiness ensues...LOVE that sweater! Best of luck with your last semester. I just embarked on mine this past Tuesday. Thank goodness I am not weak of heart. because I absolutely wouldn't make it. Also, thank goodness for Starbucks. Cold+long days+reading wretched textbooks is absolutely terribe...why did I sign myself up for this stuff again? Oh yeah, that degree thing...Best of lucky wishes girl!

amy lapi said...

don't even worry about it!

a blog post is a blog post. it's a tiny footnote in the story of your life! i know how frustrating it can be to write out a whole thing and then it's deleted. but you seem really stressed/overwhelmed with everything, and you deserve a little break :) maybe just ten minutes, to do nothing.

Sydney you should consider switching to WordPress. I've found it works so much better and you have a lot more freedom to customize. You could also host your WordPress site on your own domain and export your blogger posts over to WordPress.

I'd love to help you if you have any questions.

Don't worry about it! I can relate to the stress that all the study+work+everyday life can bring us sometime. And blogging everyday is not an easy task either!

And about the lost post... Oh man, I hate when that happens! That's why I rather trust on my beloved Word Pad. It never went "bananas" on me yet. =)

Can totally relate to feeling stress out when things/posts don't go the way I planned but that's llife, and part of it... You're a great blogger and we all love you site so please don't forget that! =) ...Cute hat btw!

Not to ignore your heartfelt writing, but I'm only commenting to say that this outfit KILLS. Could be my all time favorite Sydney outfit!

Cute sweater and hat! Very cozy. I eventually got so frustrated with using Blogger that I completely revamped my blog and launched a new one in Wordpress, and I LOVE it. You may want to look into it!

Good luck with all the stress.

I just wanted to say how much of an inspiration you are. I am currently studying photography and fashion so when I need a little inspiration or cheering up it is always your blog that I go to to. so Thankyou for all of your hard work try no to let things overwhelm you. :).

Emy said...

Why would Blogger just delete your post?! I think it's awesome that you have so much on your plate right now, but I do think you should think about your own precious time as you mentioned. I think it's clear ALL your readers seriously love you, I mean I look forward to you cracking me up everyday. That's besides the point however, I wouldn't want you to feel overwhelmed just because we're so eager to read. I know I'll be ok if you skip now and then. So Sydney, pay some extra attention to yourself just to relax or whatever you want to do. I won't blame you for it, or stop reading your posts. I like you too much for that:) Now go and enjoy yourself with that precious husband you have.

Have a lovely day friend!

I always copy all my posts because wordpress/my computer has a tendency to lose things while submitting. So the post is saved with a click of a button. I learned this the hard way after one too many deleted posts that I'd worked hard on, and recreating the entires lost the original element.

Also, why do you stand with your legs very wide in at least one photo per entry? Does it make you look taller/thinner?? Not a criticism, just a question, as I am trying to learn new angles and "my perfect angle"

I just found your blog through Busy Bee Lauren (I don't know her personally but have followed her for a long time now). Anyways, just wanted to throw out that I only blog using Windows Live Writer and it has been such a HUGE difference for the better. You can resize pics to whatever you want without all the blogger tricks you sometimes have to do, and if you see a mistake, you can fix it, hit publish, and it will save any comments already written and won't screw up the spacing. Just so much better. I wouldn't be blogging still if it weren't for it! And no, this isn't an advertisement, but it really is just better.

Anyways! You and your hubby are too cute--LOVE LOVE LOVE your outfits. How fun! Glad to have found your blog!

There aren't any rules that say you have to blog every day! Life catches up with everyone at some point, even us bloggers. Get through school! We'll still be here waiting for your return when you have the time :)

You not blogging yesterday made me realize how inhumanly addicted to your blog I am. I swear I pressed refresh about 3028430 times.

I need blogger rehab.

PS: I love your necklace!!

Hang in there Syd! The last few semesters are incredibly insane and sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day, especially if you're doing other work on the side AND being Super-Blogger.
You'll come out with shining colors. Prom.

Oh darling, I totally feel for you. You've done such a fabulous job with this bloggy of yours so far (and have got the recognition to prove it!), but it's OK to burn out every now and again. The quality of your blog is fantastic - and a day (or maybe a week or two) of tiredness won't change that.

Keep going sweetums - your talent is only beginning to shine. Until then I'll be praying for you masses.

Lots and lots of love girl,
Hannie - Tea and Biscuits
xoxo
