It's in the bag

Friday, January 14

Today I'm participating in A Hasty Life's It's in the Bag blog crawl!
Purse, meet my friends.
Friends, meet Purse.

Bag: Vintage c/o Kakalina Rose Vintage, lotion: Dead Sea Coral lotion, Sephora Cream Lipstick in Crush 23, Jemma Kidd's Gloss in Belle De Jour, Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine, Book: Modern Artists on Art, Planner and Glasses: Walmart
OK. I'm pretty sure none of you are gonna believe me when I tell you this, but that's honestly the whole contents of my purse. {Besides, of course, a few credit cards that I chose not to photograph. Yes. I don't have a wallet.} Are you utterly shocked? Me too kids, me too. I hadn't realized what a minimalist I'd become until I had laid everything out. Wanna know the trick? The small purse. That's right.
In the olden days {aka 3 months ago} I carried around one of those big honkers with a thousand pockets and zippers. You know. The ones that all your husbands and boyfriends look at and shake their head in a you're utterly ridiculous kind of way, because your bag is 3 times the size that you are? Nod your head and say yes. I know, I know. But alas, those days are over. I am officially converted to the ways of the small purse. And I'm pretty sure my little shoulders have converted over too. They've never been happier in their little bony lives.

P.S. Can you see Husband working out on our TRX in the background? My mom is kicking his butt. YES. When he sweats, it's pure hotness. But then he tries to nuzzle me and I tell him to get in the shower.

Next up on the crawl is Amber's Notebook

wow, i'm so utterly impressed by how minimalistic you are! i agree that the small purse does help. i used to have small one too and it was a dream. but then i got a bigger purse as a present and use it all the time now. unfortunately, i've started stuffing everything in there. you've inspired me to clean it out and go minimalist! :)

cute and little

Thank you so much for participating in this blog crawl. I'm a minimalist too. I just keep the bare essentials in my very small purse. I do have a wallet which takes up most of the room but other than that...not a whole lot in there! It was fun to get to snoop into the contents of your purse!! Thanks again!

Can you add on your post where you got the striped hoodie/sweater/whatever it is that you're wearing?! It is so cute! Thanks!

I am sooooo minimal when it comes to bags. I make sure I have the big 3: wallet, phone, keys, and then I'm good to go! Sure, it's fun to stuff your bag with all it can hold (I have a MASSIVE one)-- but soon your shoulders will ache! :)

Okay, new follower here from Little Miss Momma. I have to say you are one of the cutest college "kids"wives I've ever seen. When i get ready for school I'm lucky to remember a bra! I also have a very black and white closet for work, so maybe that's the problem? Anyway, just wanted to say hello and you have a new fashion worshiper here! Can't wait to see what you post next!

I carry around a pouch with lipgloss, concealer, house keys and stuff in and then my phone and purse {in England, a 'purse' is a wallet and a wallet is a purse, and a bag is what you call a purse... Does that make sense?}. It seems that, generally speaking, the older you get the more stuff you tote around.

I need to become a minimalist myself.

my boyfriend bought me a small purse for Christmas because he hates the giant, three times my size bags I was carrying before. With my small purse I feel much more organized, its nice!

I think I just had a mini anxiety attack when I saw how little you carry around! Wow. Something to consider. Wait.. no dental floss? Gum? Tiny pouch of tissues just in case? Apple?

I need help, probably.
Also, I think I'm going to convert too. Life would be so much simpler with a tiny bag containing less.. stuff.

Thanks for sharing!

I want that hat! Want want want! Ha ha. I have a minimalist approach to my purse too. Surprises people, don't it?

chichichic.wordpress.com said...

LOVE your purse, I'm the same way: if I have a giant purse, I fill it with things I don't need, smaller purse = minimize contents!

Sandy a la Mode said...

wow!!! you really are a minimalist! and no wallet either? i am impressed!! i always carry around those big honkers and it takes me forever to find anything!! happy weekend syd!!

I can TOTALLY relate to the big bag cant find anything problem.

Where did you get the striped shirt?? I am looking for one.

Rissy said...

oh I may have to participate in this... maybe it'll motivate me to clean out my purse. It's past due...and yes my purse illicits eye rolls from all who see it

Cute post! I think I am also a purse minimalist :) But that's just cause I usually have to carry around a backpack for all my books and laptop. Love the striped hoodie your wearing! Where is it from?!Thanks for sharing.

I find that my husband thinks my big suitcase (aka my purse) is ridiculous until he has something that he wants me to carry. Then its the best thing ever!

I need to become a minimalist, I have severe shoulder pains from my huge purse.

Ashley J said...

I so love that tiny little purse you got but there is no way I could cut down the contents to what you have, I always carry my camera and cell everywhere I go and they are big!

Cassie Lee said...

Maybe it's time for me to downsize...I'm basically getting chronic back pain from all the beautiful yet unnecessary things I carry around on the daily.

Pam S said...

I love the minimalistic approach, the two bags I've featured on my blog recently seem pretty big but my secret is I carry less than you do. I seriously have a purse, lip balm and lipstick in my bag...sometimes I throw my tiny mp3 player in there too. Oh and a lip balm. So it's massive but empty. I'm so clever I hurt myself :D

Pam S said...

*When I said oh and a lipbalm I meant mascara because I'm revising and therefore cannot remember words. /face palm.

Ramsey said...

I just bought a teensy one to tote around shopping...the 50 or so extra pounds is getting to me...bad...really bad.

Erin said...

Wow, I would love to minimalize what I carry around daily! I have a weekend bag (v.s the bigger bag I bring to/from work) and even that has a lot more than what you carry around.

The little vintage bag is totally adorbs, too.

modniza said...

just to say-beautyful.

Lula said...

Haha nice! I always carry so many things in my bags and if I wanna use a small bag, similar to yours up there, it always ends up looking like the Michelin tire man because I stuff it so much. But I digress. I think deep inside I like having my bag full of things, despite the look my father gives me haha. Simplest man I've ever known!
And what is that blog crawl you're talking about?! Sounds fairly exciting!

Abby said...

Wow! I can't believe that's all you carry in your bag! I used to carry huge bags as well. Everywhere I went people asked if I was on my way to a sleepover. Yea. They were that big. I still have them but I'm not gravitating more towards smaller bags. The problem is, I still and fit the 1000 things I carried in my huge bag into my tiny bag. Ooops.

SJ. Wharton said...

Did you get a Canon?! You sold the Nikon! Yay. What is it?

CessOviedo said...

What a cute little bag! It looks kind of vintage- pretty pretty!
I should only carry a small one like that, but I'm so much more attracted with huge "baby diaper bags", think my wallet is way bigger than you bag :P ...

Joanna said...

There's no way I could have a small purse like that. I need my keys, phone, wallet, camera, planner and book/kobo. And now, I have to carry around at least an extra bra and nursing pads (new mom), not to mention another bag for baby if we both go out. So, yeah, no small bags. I have managed to get down to a medium sized one, and not a gignormous one. That's progress I think...

I am shocked and amazed and jealous. I don't think my purse ever or has ever been that clean. I always have random receipts, string cheese wrappers and candy wrappers. haha or something like that. you have inspired me to clean my purse out! and yes I always have HUGE purses, so maybe that's my problem.

Lula said...

Oh and is that a Canon?!

Thanks for the link up! I love your blog and I too am minimalist in my purse!

Miyan said...

it is pretty nuts how few items are in your possession....but the small purse really does do the trick, but for some reason, i like having stuff in my purse. Like old notes, at least 3 diff flavors of gum, 2 pairs of sunnies, etc...Great post, I think i might take this idea and run with it :)

i wish i could be a small purse convert but as mine also doubles as a diaper bag, i just can't. and i hate actual diaper bags (perhaps it comes from caring one for the past 5 1/2 years...)

i guarantee your little shoulders are lovin' your new ways. i have linebacker shoulders (okay not really. um more like olympic swimmer type) and they even HATE my big purse ways...

happy weekend cutie!

Now I am too embarrassed to tell you about my bag..its a HUGE shopping bag...it holds personal things as well as samples and catalogs for my customers so it's pretty heavy :( Oh, and Korres is one of my fav cosmetic brands -I worked there for 6 years-! Have you tried the body butters? Quince, Jasmin, Fig, Guava, Vanilla plum! Yummy! I also recommend the Eau de Toilet, scent Nr. 6 (pepper, jasmine, gaiac wood)

That is really nice! I think you should use a wallet though =)
I really dont get why so many fashion bloggers or youtubers like to carry bags that are HUUGe like they are carrying around their life!
I would basically have my phone, wallet, ipod, camera, and an emergency packet, and maybe food and a pen.
Ever since the mini messenger bags came out, I used smaller bags, esp. since I find mini things soo cute!
So I only have my ipod, phone, wallet and camera. If I had an iphone, I wouldnt need the ipod, but oh well.

too funnny... I just converted to a (very) small "over the shoulder bag" due to the increased rolling of the eyes and "good gosh, what's in this thing" or "is this your luggage" when asking if someone could hand me my purse ... plus. I can't afford a chiropractor but can afford back rubs from my fav ... wait a minute, maybe switching over to a smaller purse was a mistake??! anywho, small is definitely the way to go ... and when you're done with modern artists on art, I'll be happy to take it off your hands and then discuss the highlights with you :)
