Shoes: c/o Blowfish Shoes, Jeans: F21, Button up: American Eagle, Vest: F21, Blazer: F21, Scarf: Husband's, Watch: Gift, Earrings: c/o Truly Sarah
So here's the thing. I know it's Awkward and Awesome Thursday and all. But I sat down to write the post this morning, hands posed on the keyboard rearin to go ... and I got nothin. My brain juice has been depleted. {It's currently being REpleted with a giant glass of Chocolate Milk, but we're not gonna push it just yet}
Instead, if you don't mind, I thought we could do something a little different. I got rid of my Formspring a little while ago, just cause it became difficult for me to keep up with all the questions on a daily basis. BUT. I'm going to be updating my FAQ's page soon, and I'd like to answer as many frequent questions as possible. SO. Would you mind asking them here? Right there in the comments? I'll be updating that FAQ's page as fast as my little fingers can type, and I'll be sure to let you know once it's up with all the answers.
Happy Thursday!

Have you ever been to Europe?

I hope it's not too much! :D

Okay, Sydney....you asked for questions, so I have questions. But keep in mind I'm not trying to overwhelm you, I just admire your blog so much that I think you could help a lot of us newbie bloggers.

1. Any tips on photography would be GREATLY appreciated. (I.e. tips on lighting, use of flash, angles, etc.) I know you've done a few posts on this but it would be nice to have it all in one FAQ area.

2. Fashion tips would be great too. How to mix patterns. Great layering pieces. How to layer different pieces. Etc.

3. I agree with the comment above about a makeup tutorial.

4. I would love to hear more about your school (what you're going to school for, what job your seeking, whether or not your pursuing photography or graphic design, just more about your career/school in general. We get to hear a lot about your personal life with Ty but not very much about your professional life.

5. Tips on all the things you seem to be so good at (i.e. photography and graphic design)

6. You give a few blogging tips (like how you gained so many followers) but if you have any more blogging tips, they would be really interesting to read. Clearly you have some "must read" blogs out there, how can we become one of them? What makes some blogs better than others?

7. Maybe some info on your wardrobe budget. You shop at some lower priced stores but do you tend to buy a lot from them? I notice a few repeat pieces but not a ton. I could also understand this being a bit of a personal area, so I would understand if you didn't want to share that.

Hmmm...I think that is all for now. Thank you so much for being so helpful and always so friendly. That is what I love about your blog.

Hello lady! I know this is a touchy subject and rather difficult question to answer for most bloggers out there, but I wanted to ask... how do you feel about the revenue (if you can call it that) that your blog generates? How did you decide on the way you run sponsorships? What would you say to those who are constantly expressing their unhappiness with fashion bloggers who get "courtesy of" items? I've seen quite a few nasty comments lately on lots of blogs about this. Personally, I think you work hard so you should be allowed to do this, and also it's a "win-win" situation. But if you could give your perspective and how you've dealt with other criticisms or your own doubts, that would be GREAT!

Also, I wanted to let you know you are one of the reasons I started fashion blogging! First post was a couple days ago :)

You make everything look good! Your outfits wouldn't look quite the same on just anyone...definitely not me! :)

Your bun looks smaller than the one in your tutorial. Did you get a haircut?

People have asked a lot of good questions! I'm just wondering about your photos. How much time do you spend on your photoshoots? Do you tend to look for locations where there aren't a lot of ppl around? Do you ever have an audience? Does Tyson take all of your pictures? What settings does he like to use for indoor shots? (I take HORRIBLE indoor pictures. It's always too yellow/red!) Oops...I didn't think I had that many questions!

Alright. First of all before I found your blog you could find me in a sweatsuit, everyday. Thanks for giving me the confidence to WANT to look cute again after having 3 kids. Mostly I just copy your outfits everyday. I stand in my closet and think, "What would Sydney wear?". Last of all, questions. How often do you shop and what do you usually spend per month on clothes/make-up/shoes etc. I realize that might be a tad personal, but during my shopping renassance I need to tell my hubby that there are others out there keeping the economy going too. Thanks!!! P.S. You make me want to wear red lipstick and heels just to clean my house. You ROCK!!!!!

Do you have any fashion advice for particular body types. I'm a true hourglass and have a hard time finding clothes that fit my waist, while also fitting the "lady lumps".

Do you get hot in all of those layers?

Do you realize that if you had huge red hair like me, that you would hate it and continually try to tame it in every way humanely possible?

Okay, maybe non of my questions are actually "frequently asked." My bad!

Love the blog, it's my fave.

I was wondering if you could give some tips of how to shop fashionably on a budget. I really appreciate that you shop at "real people" stores, but sometimes it is just so discouraging when you can't find things for a good deal. Do you shop regularly, online vs in stores, and how the heck do you have so many cute pieces from H&M? I love their look but there aren't any stores in the Utah/Idaho area and you can't shop online. Though that does not stop me from logging into the UK version and dream shopping...

LOVE the blog, Sydney! I recently started my own blog and you were one of my inspirations!

I think these questions have been asked but Ill ask anyway and maybe they will make it to the FAQs :)

1. What is your makeup routine?
2. Can you please do more tutorials?
3. Who are your fashion inspirations?
4. Any tips for newbie bloggers?

Keep up the great work and the adorable outfits!

Hi Sydney!

I just started following your blog a few months ago, and I just want to thank you for what you do! So much fun to see the great looks that you come up with and read all of your adorable and hilarious stories. The best thing is that you make inexpensive, everyday items look so fashionable and chic.

I would liek to know more about your school/work life like most others. I see that you recently received a ring. Is that an upgrade, or did you wait to get one? Btw, it's beautiful!

I really want to start a blog, but I have very little free time. Is it crazy time consuming?

Could you also do a step-by-step of how you put your outfits together? Do you pick a top first or do you start w/ an accessory? And how do you build your look from there? I have very similar clothes as you, but can never seem to create a look like you do. You always look complete and put together, something that I can't seem to figure out. HAHA!

Have a wonderful Thurs!

I LOVE YOUR BLOG. the end.

p.s.: Question: what are all the different sets of steps in photoshop that you use to edit your photos? (besides the one you already provided in your tutorial) Or do you just get creative with it? Thanks!!

Dear Sydney,
I <3 your blog! I'm in highschool, and to be honest, I really don't care much about clothes :) I'm more of a sweatshirts, shorts and t-shirts kinda girl. But I still look at your blog for fun pictures and stories that brighten my day! Now, questions.

1} What are you favorite hobbies? {Besides blogging and stuff.} Do you knit, or run, or sew or something?

2}Any way you could do a HTML tutorial? I love your site and would like to learn a few tips on how to make my site look more polished and pro like yours!

Your blog looks so super spiffy and dandy! And you seem like a fantastic person :)

Hi Sydney,
You have such a cute blog! I'm trying to make mine look better, but I guess I am just slow when it comes to technology haha. Do you do it all through blogger or do you have some other type of software? Also this may seem like a lame plug but I know cooking isn't at the top of your to do list, you could check out some of my recipes ( though I don't have too many up yet) it might help you out in the kitchen?! gastronomicglutton.blogspot.com
Also I wanted to know if your husband takes all of your pictures?
Thanks and I know you have a lot of questions to answer I hope you can get to me!
P.s. I know you have answered this at some point. But, how do you get your pictures side by side? I told you I was not technologically savvy!?

L said...

I agree with the hair bun tutorial! Also, what would you say would be your staples? What do you do when you're in a rut and you have one of those "I have nothing to wear" days?

Nikaela said...

Oooo... I have a question. Do you still have the black dress that inspired your husbands first kiss? Can we see it?! :O)

Thanks! You are so dang cool!

hi sydney. so i know you get a billion emails and comments every day but here's the thing: i got tagged by another blogger to share 15 things about myself and now i'm tagging 5 other bloggers to share 15 things about themselves. i was thinking "ya i know sydney is like a huge bloggy celebrity but i'll tag her anyway since who WOULDN'T want to know 15 more things about her, right?" anyway, it looks like you're already doin a FAQ page so you pretty much beat me to it.
there's a little awkward for you.
i promise i'm not a total freak.

You're the cutest girl--and my recent blog addiction! I wondered if you would ever feel comfortable sharing any of your design or artwork with us. I always love seeing others' art, but I understand if it's personal and meant to be kept separate from this blog.

Anyway, thanks so much for the continued awesome!

Does your husband shoot all your pictures? If so, how did he start? Does he have any tips for starting photographers. Do you have any tips for any starting fashion bloggers? What does your closet look like? Where do you get ready for the day (bathroom, bedroom, closet, vanity)? How long does it take you do a photo session? How long does it take you to get ready (from putting the outfit together to finished product in photos)?

How'd that art history test go? You aced it right?

Hey!! Love your blog!! It's so refreshing to see another young, married couple :). My husband and I got married in 2008 as well when I was 19. It really can be done!
My questions are:
1. Your brown boots from Famous Footwear. I LOVE them and REALLY want that pair. I've checked the website but can't find them. What brand and style name are they and is there anywhere else I could get them?? I really hope so!

2. I would love to see some post-processing tutorials with your pictures. I know you have one but I would love to see some more.

That's all!! Can't wait to see the questions and answers!!

Do you ever find yourself conflicted in terms of materialism and religion? While I am not LDS, I am pretty conservative in the religion department and one service about 'what really counts' and frivolous things, I start rethinking my shopping habits, how much time i think about putting outfits together, etc. Do you ever feel the same? Or what is your take on the issue?

hi. long time reader. first time commenter.

i follow your blog as well as kristine from kristine. or polly and Elaine from clothed much. i like the way you girls dress so modestly, and you all look like you bathe daily. I am not into that messy boho homeless look i often see all over lookbooknu

anyways, on to my question. i noticed all you girls are quite young but are all married.. and not recently either. is it in your religion to marry young? are the marriages arranged? we have arranged marriages in my culture and i always find it uber fascinating how they can be worked into modern day relationships.

also, like elaine you and your hubby are both living away from the rents and in school. if you don't mind me asking.. how do you guys make a living? paying tuition as well as rent is quite hard. i found it a challenge to live away from home as well as work when i was in school.

anyways, thanks for reading, i hope you answer my question since its been on my mind for a while. especially since i read all three blogs and wonder the same thing about you three girls.

btw you are quite beautiful and i love that fur vest. i am sure it is faux. =)

how the fetch do you get your pictures to post side by side or in a grid like fashion!? i love following your blog. and your picture posts are driving me mad! i have looked for tutorials on line- nada, zip, zulch, zero!

do you edit them like like, so its actually one picture we see with multiple frames, or do you post it like that??

much appreciated,

Love the blog.

I personally have a hard time buying really versatile, interesting jewelery pieces and then actually incorporating them into my outfits. Could you maybe do a few posts about your favorite accessories? Or create a few outfits around one piece of jewelry?

Thanks so much!

Do you ever feel silly wearing skirts or stilettos in the snow? You look adorable. How do you manage so well without freezing? It's snowing here too and I feel like people would think I was crazy if I tried (even with tights.) And I'd probably freeze my bum off. =/
