Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Thursday, January 13

Shoes: Simply Vera Wang, Socks: Husbands, Pants: F21, Top: American Eagle, Blazer: H&M, Watch: Gift, Bag: LeMode Accessories
Awkward:
- Taco Bell attempting to offer a diet plan.
- Using the old “bite down on a little toilet paper to dab your lipstick off” trick and coming away sputtering with a mouth full of paper shreds. I wonder how much TP I’ve downed in my life time? Wanna have a contest?
- Having a professor call on me for an answer, "Yea you. Purple lips"
- Standing in a line with several other intensly quiet people around and a guy asks me, "So. Tell me what made you attracted to your husband" Well ... I really liked his bum...
- Trying to get someone's attention by calling out to them. You try this at least 5 different times and  they frustratingly never hear you. But all the other people around you do. So then you feel awkward and you try and cover yourself by saying something to the effect of, well ... guess they didn't hear me. ha ha ... ha.
Um duh.
- Getting a shovel full of snow heaved at the majority of my body while walking across campus. Hey shovel boy. It's called looking. Maybe you could try it sometime.
- Elevator rides. With just you and one other person. To talk or not to talk? The only times I’ve ever tried to talk, I get one word answers and then awkward spans of silence. So I bagged that routine real quick.
- The group of 4 co-eds who've been standing outside my library window for I kid-you-not 30 minutes straight ... just talking. Guys, it's 5 degrees out OK? Why don't you kids flirt with each other inside. Dingleheads.
- Walking on an abandoned sidewalk, with only one other person. Who just happens to be perfectly in stride with you. Um, hi?

Awesome:
- That fabulous bag you see me wearing. It's the Traveling Bag! You know ... like Sisters of the Traveling Pants, except it's a bag? Adrianna from LeMode Accessories came up with the adorable concept and I'll be sending the bag onto Tania from What Would A Nerd Wear next! A couple other ladies like Kendi and Indiana will be getting the chance to style the bag, so look forward to that my friends!
- A South African accent. Is there anything more lovely?
- My mom is hereeeeeeee!
- And she kicked Husband and I'd booties in a work-out yesterday.
- MEETING you people. Seriously, I never get tired of it.
- The sweetest princess birthday bag EV-ER that my sissy put my present in. More on THAT b-day present later ;)
- Having a professor who ignites a passion for learning in me more than any other professor. I love that guy. because BOY do I need a passion for learning right about now.
- Eyebrow hairs that don’t grow back for weeks. My eyebrows have EXCELLENT time management skills.
- A new found love for homemade green smoothies, easy-peasy chili, and what an awesome replacement they are for cooking dinner. Yessssssssssssss. {Recipe to come!}
- YOUR Awkward’s and Awesome’s that you’re about to do right. now. I’m not kidding. I wanna read em people! Link up here!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I am grateful for the business at work. My shift flew by.

Hahaha, I had the same awkward moment of walking with someone who was in perfect stride with me today. We walked the entire way home. We live in the same apartment block!

MY other awkward moment of the week: my sandal broke. Had to spend 2 hours with only one shoe on :S Got a lot of weird looks!

Awkward: As I was finishing up my run on the treadmill and was slowing down to a walk I got all flaily with my arms and knocked my phone, which was connected to me by ear buds, on the floor. Doh!

Awesome 1: I ran/walked 3.1 miles for the first time ever in just over 30 minutes.

Awesome 2: You've inpsired me to get the chambray shirt out. Somehow it got pushed back into the closet and I ended up forgetting about it. Wait, the forgetting part is a little awkward. lol.

Talking in Elevators:
Yes! Although I used to be the worst at that... And I will say, that it's not a great idea in NYC. I learned that the hard way at the tender age of 18 ;).

Walking in Stride:
Ohh nooo, no, no please. Speed up? Slow down?
I am guilty of pretending to drop something just to break the cycle.

I just love the idea of the traveling bag! A piece of fashion connecting various people all over the country and why not all over the world! Excellent idea! The color and shape of this bag make it easy to mix and style, especially for work and/or school...looking forward to see more of it.

Awkward: This week I celebrated my 25th birthday with a large group of friends at Texas Roadhouse. Well, all of the waitors and waitresses started to approach our table clapping and singing and carrying a cupcake and so everyone naturally thought they were coming my way, right? Right. So I decided to embrace the silliness and I started clapping right along with them in a very enthusiastic manner... but as they approached my table they kept walking right by and took a sharp turn and sang to another table like... 10 feet away. I laughed so hard I almost started crying. It was SO awkward. (Awesome: The whole night was a surprise... my first ever surprise on my birthday!)

kayla and tyler said...

awkward:
-my boss having his bathroom right by the front desk where I sit.... ehh.
-my sister told me her teacher complimented her figure in class and she was dying! (sexual harrassment?!)

awesome:
-my love comes home next week.. I can't wait!
-I don't have to work on saturday, HEAVENS BLESS!!!

Even more awkward re: the elevator with one person. I work in a research hospital doing events planning. Try riding the elevator alone with a scientist. It's equally creepy, awkward, and funny. I swear they are from another planet.

PS-My boyfriend and I love your blog. It gives us a daily chuckle and aww.

I now live in Rexburg too. And I'm usually always holding my husbands arm while walking in the snow.. the one time he isn't around I face plant it in front of the MC. NO FOR REAL! Like a tree being chopped down. I even have battle wounds on my face. I didn't even get a chance to block my fall with my arms or do that awkward "trying to catch myself wiggle of the arms" I failed :)

That black and white blazer is to die for...swoon!

Awkward: Repeatedly catching the same person's eye as you look around while day dreaming on the treadmill. I'm not staring at you ok?!

Also Awkward: Having the same lady at Charlotte Russe ask if you're looking for anything special for someone or if there's anything she can help you with...TWICE! And then calling me ma'am TWICE! UGH..I'm only 31 :(

Awesome: Coffee catchups with good friends on a random Thursday.

what's totally awkward but totally awesome today is the fact that we literally have almost the exact same look going on! b&w horizontal stripped sweater, grey jeans, top knot hair and nude lips. i told the bf i was "channeling my inner sydney" so i'd look fab for my presentation, haha. how weird is that that you'd do that today too! but of course you don't need to channel your inner sydney.. you are sydney! oh god this comment is awk, i swear i'm not crazy :p

Your Awkward and Awesome posts are hilarious! I with ya about calling out to someone and they don't hear you. Embarrassing!

Awkward: when the shopping bag the store puts your purchases in is much more difficult to carry than the items themselves, so you take them out and give the bag back

Awkward: slowly waking up to husband cuddling with you... only to open your eyes and realize husband is at work at your giant pit bull is spooning you. And snoring in your ear. And drooling on your neck.

Awesome: Accidentally saying "rom com" and "totes" in the same sentence, and realizing that my friends love me anyway.

ps. I know you get a million comments a week, but I just wanted you to know you are one of the only blogs that I make time to check daily. I have an "awesome." I am a caregiver for a lady in the last stages of her life. It was awesome today because she kept smiling at me. (she smiles some, but today she was extra smiley.) So during lunch she was smiling and I asked why she was happy and she told me basically because I was with her. I got a little emotional. It was very special. :) She's beautiful when she smiles.

Awkward? I got a car home from work, because I worked late, and when I thought he wasn't looking, I "scratched" the inside of my nose. (Just a bit! I swear!) But sigh, he was looking in the rearview mirror.

Awkward: Waiting to say something to someone who is talking to someone else and they can tell you are just lingering there. Then when you think they are done talking, you say what you wanted to say, only for the first conversation to continue and then you just look dumb. Why, why WHY did I linger? Big loser.

Awkward: Doing a photoshoot for a family and sending them a great picture, and them asking me if I can change the background AFTER the shoot. Um, nope, I cannot. Sorry.

Awesome: My clean apartment, booking a trip to Hawaii, and my toddler pooping on the potty.

Okay. I'm sure you won't check out my blog, BUT today I definitely wrote about one of the most awkward situations I've ever been in. Like, ever. In my entire life:

Have you ever teleconferenced into a meeting? Don't do it. Most awkward, painful thing I've ever had to do. I didn't announce my presence [on the phone] for the first 15 minutes. Don't ask me why. I definitely made an awkward situation even more awkward. It was horrible. I called my husband after wards, practically bursting with awkward energy. He thought I was crying. Hahahahaha...

Once again: Love your blog!

Randi Lynn said...

Awkward: Having to get something out of those lady machines in the public bathrooms when there's like five million girls standing in front of the mirror. It's like wearing a shirt that says, "I'm on my period and I'm unprepared."
Even more awkward: When the machine eats your quarter. And then you get nothing in return. So you have to turn back around in front of those five million girls feeling a little bit of shame.

Just found your blog and I love it! P.S. I was looking at some of your pictures and I was like hmmm, that looks like BYU-I...lo and behold there you are! Love your blog!

Next, I am in love with this outfit. So casual, yet so chic! Also, your "Awkward and Awesome Thursday" posts are my favorite. They are always so funny and totally relatable.

Thank you for the inspiration you give!

I just went online and bought these boots because they are adorable! I was looking for something to go to class in and these are perfect. I hope they are as comfortable as they are cute.

Getting someone's attention repeatedly without them hearing has happened to me several times. It always seems to happen when just one other person is around...

Ahh...I love awkward awesome Thursdays! Keep them coming!

OMG! HAhaha I HATE when I walk right next to someone, that is REALLY awkward. I like the purple lips and the guy who asked about your husband.
That name calling thing happens all the time!! That person is the ONLY one that doesnt hear me and everyones like hahhah you aren't talking to anyone, or is that your imaginary friend? No wait you're too lame to have imaginary friends.
oh gosh... its the worst =P

Syd, the best thing happened today. I saw a girl who had your bun, and I said to her, "I love your bun...do you read the DAYBOOK!?" We totally bonded over YOU! How funny/awesome is that?! It's going to be dubbed the Sydney bun, I can just feel it!

Your Awkward and Awesome posts are hilarious! I with ya about calling out to someone and they don't hear you. Embarrassing!

I've had an awkward moment... I was walking along a busy, store-lined street in the rain. A truck drove by hitting a huge pothole that I was walking by. And SPLASH! He completely drenched the backside of my jeans. Awesome.

loving the outfit. i've been on the receiving end of the yelling and not hearing. i was in line at hobby lobby and so were they...a few lines over. i finally heard my name and looked to the left and didn't see anyone. heard my name again and looked to the right. oh, there they are. yay for moms coming to see us. im glad my mom can't kick my butt in a workout though.
